Looking for gear ideas and reveiws on that one piece/or cpl pieces of equipment bought or DYI'ed. That piece that is in every BOB/GHB, or took on every camping trip, backbacking trip.

Everyone has that good ; knife, gun, stove, light, pack, water bottle, or item that they wouldnt leave with out.

Whats yours? Please Explain Why?

Yes Sorry , was looking for more of the I've used this and it works great products. As opposed to the i carry this everywhere with me but never used it for much stuff. They're are several items like that on here. Plus the reasoning behind why one item is better than the other, instead of just a list of stuff.

1. cutting ( knife, saw, axe/hatchet)
2. cover ( tarp, all weather blanket)
3. cordage ( rope, twine, cord)
4. combustion ( steel, flint, bic lighter,etc)
5. container ( metal container for cooking/boiling water/food)
6. clean ( first aid kit/ soap/toothpaste )
7. critter ( fishing kit/snare kit)
8. clothes ( extra set of clothing)
9. communications ( radio/mirror/whistle)
10. compass ( compass/map)

Military woobie (poncho liner). I not only don't leave home without it, I sleep under it at home too. It's weird how the darn thing can keep me cool when it's hot and warm when it's cold, but it does. Love that thing. Have two, so I can wash one and use the other.

Good add, A 100 years of proven skills and ideas in one book, a good addition to any BOB/GHB, Camp Box. Its informative and distracting during those mental issues when your alone in the field.

Gosh if it were just one thing it would be my Leatherman Wave. I carry it every day up here in AK and I use it to make improvised stuff and repair all sorts of things every day. It's an extension of my body.

The few things I never leave at home are my.

S.O.G multi-tool - It was an E-bay buy "used" $30, been backing it for 5 years now no issues.

M16-13ZM - Spear Point - Designed by Kit Carson, $60 Rock solid knife for the money, No complaints other than I had to lock-tite the 3 pocket clip screws they kept backing out, but the clip screws on my sunday knife "benchmade stryker" done the same thing.

Walther P-22, .22 long rifle pistol great little carry gun for back-backing , or going to wal-mart. Its light, extremely accurate, and reliable with most brands of ammo.

And don't laugh but my Gerber Gator machete $30, I have used and abused it backbacking, truck camping, on the farm, on large brushfires, and during an Ice storm. if it needs to be sharpened i hit it on the grinder or with a chainsaw file in the field. I've used the saw building camp items, and have used it more like an ax than a machete. Only issue I've had with it is the handle got loose about year 3 and i had to tighten it back up.

one thing is for sure. never without my gerber FLIK multitool, my fire steel (ferro rod), and possibly another knife. preferably KABAR if i get one
