Find myself wondering this more and more. Ingredients of a Perfect Storm:
1) The magnetic north pole is moving at ten times its previous rate. All we can do in response is adjust our GPS satellites to reflect the movement.
2) Earths magnetic shield is weakening. A pole flip or prolonged migration is increasingly likely.
3) Grid loss due to solar flares, increased hacking efforts or EMP.
4) Obesity and diabetes at epidemic proportions.
5) The opioid crisis.
7) Transgender movement. Sorry - I consider it a mental illness. Which disqualifies me from acceptance in modern western society.
8) Increasing tensions between Ingsoc and the proles. See the yellow vest movement.
9) Mountains of unserviceable debt which western society is increasingly dependent on.
10) Tensions between the law and order right and the socialists on the left.
11) Possible climate instability. The climate changes, some expect global cooling which could be catastrophic in many ways.
12) Increased seismic activity in the Ring of Fire - especially in California: https://earthquaketrack.com/v/la/recent
13) The arrest of Julian Assange. I believe that his treatment may prove to be a watershed event.
14) Dems are relentless in their gun grabbing efforts. If I had to pick a single probable catalyst for a Civil War, it would be a national gun grab.
15) The weaponized vaccine movement. Most of us think vaccines are pretty awesome. Many have studied them closely and have different conclusions. Some have possibly been killed for their efforts in education, many have died after getting too many vaccinations at once.
16) Socialism. The Democratic party has coalesced around the concept of theft and re-distribution. Public education is a veritable factory for producing young socialists.
17) Marriage and child rearing is becoming an antiquated concept.
18) Vilification of the white male. Interesting in that, guessing here, 95% of the changes that allow for comfortable modern living have been enabled by the - white male. Get rid of the white male, I doubt the earth prospers. Statistics cast white males in a positive light. Statistics are "racist."
19) Increasing tensions between so many groups.
20) Common sense. It is both essential and increasingly illegal.

Some of your scientific concerns are incorrect.
1. Magnetic north is the south pole. Magnetic south is North pole. Is there some migration? Of course... but nothing to concern yourself with
2. Earth is warming. It's a simple measure of carbon in the atmosphere. Carbon prevents solar energy from reflecting out of our atmosphere. There's nothing to argue here. Scientists have had conclusive data for more than 50 years.
3. Societal divisions and gun grabbing... yep.. that's going to pop off at any point.
4. Vaccines... as more people STOP getting vaccines we will lose herd immunity and you will start seeing populations ravaged by diseases weve all but exterminated. Do some people have reactions??? Yep... but we no longer vaccinate for SEVERAL highly lethal devastating diseases because they are not common in society... that doesnt mean rats dont carry them... monkeys... 3rd World populations. 1 unvaccinated person goes over and contracts something and now we have an epidemic. It takes a basic undergrad immunology class to see that the current anti immunization trend will be DEVASTATING.
Here's a simple test that will point you in the direction of truth 90% of the time in current society. Listen to the hot liberal propaganda.... the opposite is the truth.
It's pretty simple stuff. In the age of the internet its astounding how many people dont research...

Regarding the natural disaster stuff...
From what we’re told we humans are riding through space on a cooling ember blasted from some huge explosion at some central place a long time ago.
As it cools it farts, shakes, erupts all while spinning on this ember that’s spinning around a sun that’s flying through space with us. The fact that we’re alive, if that is true, is a miracle.
I think given how violent our universe is mankind is in constant peril and we’re been lucky in that regard.

Regarding the stuff people are causing, yes it feels like things are building to a crescendo and it feels like the crescendo is being steered.

First it was global cooling. Then it was global warming. Then back to global cooling for a short time again. Then back to global warming which has stayed in effect until now. Trouble is that all these climate change morons can't explain the several times that we had snowball earths where the snow and ice was over a mile deep at the equator. You see, the climate change people fail to ALWAYS explain why the earth is cyclic in its climate extremes. Instead they falsely blame mankind.

That is why it is now termed "Climate Change". That way no matter which way it goes, they are always correct. I remember all the changes in predictions over the years also.

I would have loved to have an engineering class where no matter what I calculated as the answer to a problem, it would be deemed correct.

There are a lot more to be sure. Those are simply the first 19 that popped into my head as I wiled away a slow day. Fukushima is either nothing or the end of the world depending on which production one watches. I suspect that most threats have been exaggerated, that is what humans like to do when making productions.

I tried to point out that some of the global warming hysteria has given way to concerns about the possibility of global cooling. Several posters were proud to show off their knowledge of weather in the 70's.

It may be rudeness that destroys this society. The trends are pretty incredible. Came up a bit short of 20 Tempests. Rapidly closing in on 20 rude responses. Found one or three that wasn't - thanks arleigh. :thumb:

"2. Earth is warming. It's a simple measure of carbon in the atmosphere. Carbon prevents solar energy from reflecting out of our atmosphere. There's nothing to argue here. Scientists have had conclusive data for more than 50 years."

Nonsense. You have no data whatsoever to show a warming. The British scientists that claimed a warming lied. Everyone bases their lies off of their lies.

Really?? 2 Masters degrees suggest otherwise. Do you know how to read peer reviewed journals?? Have you ever read one?? I'll see if I can find an easy one for you to sink your teeth into.

Jasper, William F. "The global warming: carbon regime." The New American, 4 Jan. 2016, p. 13+. Academic OneFile

This is policy discussion regarding the foregone conclusions you've apparently missed while being patriotic. You want more? Poor choice of people to call out.
For your edification, "peer-reviewed" means a substantial group of people with PhD's after their names have reviewed the article and data and found it to be accurate.

Jeremy D. Shakun, Peter U. Clark, Feng He, Shaun A. Marcott, Alan C. Mix, Zhengyu Liu, Bette Otto-Bliesner, Andreas Schmittner & Edouard Bard. 2012. Global warming preceded by increasing carbon dioxide concentrations during the last deglaciation. Nature. 484(7392):49-55

This ones a little more specific. Try to follow along. Pretty simple science here.

Wayman, E. 2013. Taking Antarctica's temperature: Frozen continent may not be immune to global warming. Science News. 184(2).

This one gives you a nice easy to understand timeline, with reference to specific core samples, and supporting research over the last "50-60 years". It's specifically stated right in the paper.

Prep.
Use the logic and commonsense that came with your DNA.
Keep your head on a swivel.
"Don't worry. Be happy"

Focus on the glass. It is half full.
Every previous problem either has a work-around, or its been solved.
Present problems will be replaced with newer, seemingly more troubling, problems.
Media has a vested interest in molehills.
Corporate marketing has a solution for problems you didn't even know you had.
Life is as complicated as we want to make it.

Try to remember that we prep so we don't have to constantly worry or live in fear. I agree, it's all about perspective and our cups are more than half full. Are there threats to our "life, liberty, and pursuits of happiness"? Sure, but we also have far more freedom, access, freedom of movement, opportunities, availability, and relative wealth compared to 100 years ago.

Some things are simply beyond our control and we shouldn't invest much time into worrying about them. Solar flares and the damage to our power infrastructure is my biggest fear, but it won't be stopped and all we can do is be prepared to live without electricity for either short or long term. People still live without electricity in the world but the associated human break-down is more problematic.

Man-made climate change is a hoax that has way too much political capital to die. I do believe the climate changes on cyclical patterns and severe weather will continue to be a seasonal concern like it has for the pass several hundred years. That's why we prepare and stay situationally aware. We should also be good stewards of our own local environments and support capitalism around the world...wealth of a nation is what determines levels of pollution and associated problems. Poverty directly impacts the environment.

Socialism (and the ensuing poverty) are the biggest threat we face today. Identity politics, polarizing narratives, accusations of racism or other "groups", class warfare, the rewriting of history, denigration of our founders, media propaganda, cultural clashes, etc....all these "man-made" threats are the biggest we face today. Again, we prepare, get involved to stay the move towards Socialism, get informed with various sources, apply common sense, don't compromise your values, faith, or family.

Doomsday will happen eventually. We plan and prepare to deal with it; we also plan and prepare AND TEACH our children to understand the threats so they can do the same in the future. However, we need to remain engaged in society to counter the socialist agenda and negative narratives...while at the same time appreciating our liberty and opportunities. Life is good, our cups are more than half-full, and everyday is another beautiful day to enjoy.

Aside from the fallacies of "man made climate change", stress and needless worrying have proven to manifest into physical ailments. Avoid the stress and focus on improving your health, physical conditioning, and diet...those are likely you best survival preparations you can count on when needed.

Nothing wrong with your list of concerns. Some are more likely than others. But here are three that are certain.
1) The total collapse of the debt based economy.
2) Problems with the production and distribution of food, water, and energy.
3) But its the entitlist mob metality that is the greatest threat, IMO.

Ditto Rock6. The OP uses a broad brush, while various political or situation sychophants troll to specific moving pieces. The reality is that these are all elements of a trend in history. We are literally in the transition between two gigantic trends, on the level of Hunter gatherer to agricultural, agricultural to industrial, industrial to technological. This is technological 2.0....the 20 are all symptoms of this next phase, they are endings and beginnings, concentrations and sheddings, consolidations and percieved necessities, most of all this list is a moving part on a much greater list currently underway and gaining momentum.

We are marshalling world wide resources, talent and political momentum to go offworld. Our grandkids will see this as adults, parents and grandparents as obvious in the crystal clear clarity of hindsight, like we view the internal combustion engine, technology or NASA now. Doesn't make it easier now though, in the midst of transition and preparation. Forget Pollyanna distractions like climate debates, failed movements like socialism and dying systems like central banks, national debt loads, etc. Certain interests see them all as hindrences to access to much greater wealth, resources and effort. They see useful tools in mass migration, political sideshows, economic show wealth and debt in the form of digital currency as excellent tools to diffuse and balkinize soveriegnty, identity, nationalism. It's all an obstacle course in transition to a much bigger goal and era. For us it translates as traumatic, vdeadly, infuriating, confusing conflict. Looked like that to wandering Hunter gatheres. Looked like that to farmers. Looks like that to blue collar workers. Looks like that to middle-class folks like us watching our jobs get offshored and our 20-somethings morph before our eyes. The moving parts are distracting, emotional, confusing up close. Several steps back they become jigsaw pieces and a pattern forms, even incomplete as it is yet. We are going off planet, though few of us on this board will live to see more than one or two concrete steps (of many).

My grampa grew up with horses and the very rare car, but witnessed the moonlanding on TV at our age. Is this so much different?
