I don't understand why you would be carrying a bag around with you in your home. Is your home that large that you can't run back to the bedroom for some med supplies or OC? Seems like it would be in the way.

I keep everything I need in my top dresser drawer.

This bag is if you have an intruder. Everything is in one place. Throw it over the shoulder and you're good to go. You don't have to run back to get anything. You don't have to worry about stuffing things into your pocket. You have ammo, mags, flashlight, etc at your finger tips.

I just keep a pistol stashed in each room of the house (& one in an IWB holster upon occasion). House has lights & if late at night I have flashlights at bedside (along with 12ga. & pistols) & other flashlights located at other end of house.
Kinda different to walk around your house carrying a bag......dunno. :D:

The point is having everything together in one place and not being caught off guard. Sounds like your Drawer idea is where you keep your essentials. If I used a drawer, it would start accumulating other things or my kids would remove things from it. Yes, my house is large enough to carry a bag unless I want to keep it in other areas. It's really about planning ahead. The rest is academic.

If you don't have kids, that might be an option, not to mention flashlights being left on and batteries running down.... It's all about planning.... bag is optional. Sound like you're there.

I think a makeshift duty belt would make more sense than a bag. Pistol holster, mag pouches, flashlight holster, handcuff holster , pepper spray holster , baton holster, cell phone holder and even a fanny style med kit. All the same essentials as carried in the bag, yet more organized , convenient and faster item aquisition.

Not a good idea. Your pistol should NOT be a primary firearm. Your shotgun or carbine should be your primary firearm with the pistol for an immediate back-up device. Your defenses should be LAYERED so that bad guys have come through a SERIES OF DEFENSES to get to you. The pistol has been and will always be a weak sister. About 70% of all people who get shot with pistols survive. So there you are. You hear a bump in the night and go to confront it with a handgun. Suddenly in front of you there are 3 doped up scumbags leering at you. Doped up is pretty much the common event for criminals in this country any more. So you really WANT to engage 3 spaced out or intoxicated punks with a weaker system of defense, a handgun, when you will probably need something more potent like a shotgun, rifle or carbine? Not me. Thanks any way.

The idea of a bag or pistol belt set up is good. I like that concept. I actually prefer the pistol belt with a small bag or butt pack on it to keep my extra medical gear in it and magazine pouches up front to aid in fast reloading. And a holster for the handgun too.

I think this is a good idea, too.

My main home defense weapon is a shotgun with extra ammo and a light, but I considered if I needed to use the pistol. The answer was an inexpensive duty belt with a holster, mag holder and flashlight holster. If I need to check something out with the pistol, click on the belt and go. After seeing that video, I will be adding a cell phone holder so it's not up on the nightstand when I need it. Can't believe I forgot that.

All my other goodies are in the BOB, which is kept handy in case I need to de-ass the house quickly in the event of a fire or CO2 leak.

That would work as well. The main thing is just planning ahead and having your gear together. Thanks for the input~
