I have a friend who says he can get a Norinco M14 from a friend in Canada imported to the US legally?

Does anyone know if this is correct?

Really too bad that you guys ever voted for Clinton. I have two Norc M14's. One is the 18.5" barrelled version. They shoot incredibly well and are nice guns. $450 each - new. Looks great beside my Norinco M4 carbine. That was $600 and shoots as good as my last Colt.

This is a good time to lobby our senators to remove some of the importation restrictions. If we could get everyone to start lobbying on our behalf, now would be the time to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak. Every senator up there now knows we are not to screwed with and we will band together as brothers to support our causes and rights.

Let's get this straight.

Bush Sr. banned the importation of "non-sporting" rifles in 89. This led to SKS bayonets being removed and AKs ending up with thumbhole stocks. M14 clones were till being imported with a neutered flash hider

Clinton banned importation everything but shotguns from China as part of a trade agreement in 93. No more SKSs, No More AKs, no more M14s.

In 2003 Bush Jr. Blocked the importation of parts because Norinco employees had been smuggling parts in and assembling weapons for sale under the table to criminal organizations.

Yes, the Norc M14s are one of the few treats us Canadians get despite our other more restrictive gun laws, along with some copper washed .308 in the last year that shoots really well through them.

Though many of them shoot fine out of the box, most of the Norcs do have slightly under or over indexed barrels, hit and miss rear sights and stock issues, as well as nothing like the servicing from Springfield, which is also practically impossible for us to get on account ot the paperwork to ship one to the US and back. So while those failings might not make the extra $1200 for a Springfield M1A a better deal, it does lessen the difference between what you get for each dollar spent.

Yes. I'm very jealous of our brothers to the north.:

$450 M14 = Another M14 as a spare rifle.
I still have a few Norinco 20rd M14 mags. Work just as well as my pre60's gi and current CMI mags do.

Maybe one day the gates will open for them to be imported here, but I aint holding my breath....lol

Note: The rifle on the right in avatar above was built off a very early imported Norinco M14S receiver. The other one is an SAI M1A-A1.
Love um both. Want more.
