Moderators, I put this here in this section because Illinois is a disaster and we should prepare accordingly :

What is says, in a nutshell, is that you can keep your weapons and magazines if you get them registered with the state before the law comes into effect. (I know it is only a bill right now, but the mere fact that a group of people are considering this is inane!) Wait, I've heard this before......."Ich muss ihre papiere bitte sehen."

Sad. Feel sorry for those in Illinois. Nobody protesting to stop the police state laws there. Then they wonder why the bills get passed.

Concealed carry isn't going to happen in Illinois UNTIL the feds force it to happen. The corrupt Chicago Democrats are ruining this state, the business climate and keeping Illinois in high taxes. I won't open another business in this state because of all the garbage Chicago has forced into play at the state level. Until the feds come up with a federal concealed carry, honest citizens in Illinois are at the mercy of criminals.

Unbelievable, Illinois is doing their best to get rid of those pesky "people" who keep getting in the way of all the good work.

It seems the with Anti-Gun states are also Pro-High Taxes, Anti-Freedon, Pro-Big Government and are in massive debt and corrupt.

Just look at very left-wing cites like Detroit, they represent the best of liberalism and I guess enjoy the results of it!

I read that crap, what a bunch of crap, oh did I say it was crap!

Here are the reps pushing this through

Short Description: CRIM CD-ASSAULT WEAPON-PROHIB

House Sponsors
Rep. Edward J. Acevedo - Ann Williams - Greg Harris - Barbara Flynn Currie, Karen May, Carol A. Sente, Deborah Mell and Marlow H. Colvin

Deborah Mell is the daughter of long time Democratic Machine Alderman Richard Mell (33rd) the sister to wacko Patricia Mell (Blagojevich) and sister in law to ex-governor Rod Blagojevich.

How does that saying go? Birds of a feather stick together.

More & More Daily Starting to Prep

And they are $51 billion dollars in debt. Worst debt as a State. If I lived in Illinois I would put being prepared at the top of my list.
If you check the newbie list you can see that ILs are wising up and getting prepared ......

None of this new firearms laws are going to pass and the push from Chicago is fading away with Daley retiring ........

But stuff like the gun laws are the least of our worries .......

It's like they feel that some rights are more important than others. It really seems like they want to make Illinois the socialistic example. The Chicago politicians even make California look like a right-wing nut in comparison. I really have little doubt that this bill will be struck down, but the audacity of them to even propose such a liberty-crushing law blows my mind. I am really and level, objective person, but this got me steaming mad. Papers? Seriously? So, I'll have to get a notary to vouch that I am in possession of my firearms and magazines prior to this date, then send it to the ISP? Oh, how convenient; the ISP lost my papers, but somehow know I own said firearms. Guess who will make a "surprise" visit to my residence on a "tip" that I am storing illegal firearms. As I said, I like to keep things on the lowest level possible, but "Come and take them."

The way they have worded that 2nd Amendment killing piece of legislature, it would eliminate most "long guns" except the rudimentary types...single shot models, bolt action models (provided they do not use detachable magazines), and a very few semi auto types of shotguns, provided they have no resemblance to a "military" looking style. Also, ALL pistols that are semi auto (magazine fed) would be illegal as well. I doubt it will pass but if it did, it would effectively take their state backwards many decades into the past thus allowing for only certain types long guns and revolvers. This new proposed law also mentioned 50 caliber guns. I did not see any exception mentioned in it for black powder rifles of which many are made in this caliber. If it was passed, it would set a bad precedent that the "Libs" would attempt to use in other states, and it is not acceptable. This is a wannabe socialist state within our own country and if the Illinois citizens don't take action, the Libs will keep trying to strip its citizens of most of their gun rights. Don't become "England" within your own country...fight for your rights, and toss these Libtards out of office!!!

Law will probably not hold water - you do not have to register to go to church, or register before you open a blog, or register before you use any of your other rights.

Good points, HUNTER. I read it last night, but I believe the wording is that if the blackpowder muzzleloader is under .50 caliber and used for hunting, it is ok. I'm no blackpowder expert, but I rarely see any under a .50 caliber; it might just be where I see them, though.

Crime is already hideous here and defending oneself is ridiculous, so I can't imagine what the crime will be like if this goes through. Oh, by the way. There is another piece of legislation in the house that wants to eliminate Tazers, pepper-spray, et cetera from being carried by anyone but the police. It would be a felony, I believe, to carry and use that or an ASP or similar tool. I carry a 6-D-Cell Maglite at night when I walk my dog, so it's for "illumination" as well as predators. Just sayin
