Although it may seem doomy and gloomy I was thinking about this.

For me, I would rather see the shtf by way of a virus that kills humans. Zombie option not included. First, off it isn't a bad choice, you either die or you live. If everyone just kind of fell over and died you wouldn't have to worry about vehicles not running or finding supplies. You'd have to deal with quite a few dead bodies, but not have a thing with "resistance", from others, as long as a high percentage of people died when the virus struck. I could see a rather fun time going to stores and gathering up supplies if no one else was around. I would leave where I am now though after collecting supplies and head west to a less populated area.

Just something to get your thinker going.

I don't think a super virus would really be such a "fun time". Can you imagine the stink of billions of dead bodies around the world all rotting away at the same time with no one to bury them? Imagine just the resulting infestation of flies afterwards! On top of that, even with a supervirus that kills people rather quickly, it would probably take a few weeks to spread worldwide, which is plenty of time for people to go absolute crazy and raid every supermarket, store, and restaurant around for supplies. You'd have to enter people's houses to get supplies you refer to which means you'd face either 1) the awful stench and biohazard of rotting dead bodies or 2) someone alive inside mostly likely willing to shoot you on the spot. If you aren't already prepped then a supervirus is NOT a pretty scenario whatsoever.

If I had to pick a TSHTF scenario, I'd probably pick a EMP from the sun. That way few lives will be lost initially and society can hopefully remain somewhat civilized and begin rebuilding.

I'm with you OP even if it did get a little crazy for a few weeks after the infected where dead there would still be plenty of supplies in distribution centers and places that the average Joe wouldn't think of looking.

If you haven't already I recommend reading "The Stand" by Steven King it is about this SHTF scenario.

A virus that either kills or it doesn't? Not for me. It's too indescriminate. I'd want something that rewards the preppers for all their forethought, hard work and sacrifice, while punishing the sheeple for not heeding the same warnings. I'm just not creative enough to come up with what that would be.

Realistically, I'd prefer a slow burn type situation. One that would return us, technologically and lifestyle wise, to a time about 75-100 years in the past. Back when people did an honest day's work for an honest day's wages. A time when people were more self sufficient and weren't hooked to the community tit. Back to a time that people didn't sit around staring at a cell phone poking buttons, when their kids weren't attached to the TV by game controllers, when there was no Starbucks and other yuppie pampering sheeple institutions, back when parents raised kids instead of the TV and family time meant just that. Most importantly, back to a time with less population. Preferably the ones being "trimmed" would be the sheeple and "city poodles".

I would like to see something like "The Happening" movie or similar. Not enough to wipe out everyone, but at least 50% of the worlds population.
WOW man, the so called elites think the same way.
But I hear they want to get rid of at least 80 to 90%
of us.

Hmmm...the shtf of my choice, what a concept.

Preferably six months after I won a twohundredmillion dollar mega lotto and bought a couple hundred acres in Alaska on some island that you have to fly onto and had a bomb shelter with years worth of food and tons of guns (just because I like guns anyway) and maybe a still.

And a bunch of cool solar and wind turbine stuff. Oh, yeah and a bunch of good books. And candy. Lots of candy.

I sincerely apologize for this but I just can't stop myself...

My choice would be the following would go to sleep tonight peacefully, without pain, and never wake up:
. Those who think money and investments and power and the control of others are the most important things there are...
. Those who think amortization, compound interest and inflation/deflation are sexy.
. Those who think the world is over populated.
. Those who think they are empowered, and justified, to make decisions for the rest of the human race.
. Those who want to "represent" others in politics.
. Those who want to wield power over others.
. Those who want to prey on others.
. Those who think they have the right to tell others how to live their lives.
. Those who just know the best way, if only others would follow.
. Those who will just make you follow.
. Those who think skin color matters, or that it gives them a right to slide....
. Those who think history gives them an excuse to...whatever...
. Those who think they have the knowledge of the "ONLY" way to "heaven."
. Those who would stand quietly and allow a brother or sister to be taken advantage of.
. Those who would lay claim to the produce of another.
. Those who would accept a government forcibly taking the produce of another individual and redistributing it...
. Those who think paying a yearly tax/fee/license/registration in order to practice a GOD GIVEN RIGHT is just and acceptable.
. Those who think a Federal Government cares more for them than their family, their church, their community/city/county/state.
.Those whose Federal Government DOES care more for them than their family, church or community.
. Leaders of and members of Churches, and other non-profits, who sold their birthrights and became 501(c)3 government sell-outs.
. Those who expect/demand something from government (man), that GOD himself/herself doesn't guarantee.

You know, sheeple are not necessarily bad people. They just aren't as enlightened as you are. :)
