If we are in such bad financial trouble pull the troops out of Iraq immediately like Ron Paul says we can't afford it. Pull the military out of most of the 130 countries we probably don't need them.
Immediately cut the size of the government we can't afford it.
If we have financial costs we cut our spending why are they spending even more of our money? Because there is no outrage until it is too late.

Yes and no. Pulling out in that manner shows the world weakness and in this climate- that's something we do NOT want to do. Show weakness and you give opportunity and target to strike. There is a way to pull out, but doing it immediately isn't it. MHO.

What if the effects of this gigantic bill is hyperinflation? When your bread cost $50,000 and your dollar is worth a couple of pennies are you going to say we can afford this huge government and military. Comrade Paulson is now speaking at the Congressional hearing on c-span I must listen.

On the contrary, it would be a show of strength. Who would attack our borders if our troops were home.

No, the real issue is there's too much money being made by private interests in DC. These things outlined in the OP WOULD happen if it were THE INTERESTS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE they worked for. Sadly, they don't work for us any more. That should be painfully obvious.

How about just cutting the defense spending. Put the F22 and F35 projects on hold. This alone would nearly cover the 700 billion dollar economic bailout. F-15s, F-16 and F-18s are good enough.

Cut reasearch and development projects by 2/3 for two to three years. That should shave another three or four hundred billion dollars.

Next, legalize marijuana.: Yes. I said it. Then tax it like tobacco. That would cut the required budgets for the DEA, ATF, Customs and Justice Depts as well as the court costs of prosecuting non-violent otherwise law-abiding citizens as well a free up room in prisons for the real criminals.

Cut forigen aid. Feed our citizens first--not Africas. Stop sending billions of dollars to help countries that do not like us to begin with. :thumb:

DO NOT give social security benefits to illegal aliens! I do not care how long they have worked in the USA. IF they are illegal, they get no benefits. Also, to take it a step further, if a child is born in the USA to parents who are here ILLEGALLY, the child should NOT be granted citizenship.

Stop paying farmers and ranchers to NOT grow food or raise livestock. :headshake:

Tax the living Sh*t out of the corporations that ship American jobs oversees for essentially slave labor. :thumb:

All political campaign contributions that are not spent after an election should go directly to medicare.

All special interest money should go to medicare as well. No lobbyist should be allowed to meet in private with a public servant. All special interest group meetings should be done in a public forum.

That is just a start. I could go on but I don't think kev had the bandwith available for that much ranting on one thread.

When was the last time the United States tried being isolationists?
What did our US Constitution and our forefathers say about Imperialism?
What did they say about taxes and banks and government?

... Then we'd be the next Haiti. However- our money won't go that way because us having at least enough to get by is what keeps many of these Big Businesses IN business. So everyone will fight to make sure as best they can that the common folk can afford to eat and still spend as much as we can. Things will be different- but the $50K bread isn't something that I believe the States will face as a result of *this* particular crisis.

... Who's attacking us now? If you mean terrorists, well, having troops home wouldn't change that one bit IMO.

They wouldn't attack our borders. They would attack our economy. They would see that a weak dollar and some bad financial trouble caused the US Gov to run home and they would try to make our economy worse because they would know that's how to hit us hardest. Terrorist would target anything that would cause our economy to have more problems and it would be easier for them because they would not be fighting our troops in their backyard.

Most of the business you talk about are going to face the same crisis. The people that can (and will) cause hyperinflation are limited, and are at the Federal Reserve. It won't be intentional, just a simple outcome of a fiat currency.

They'll fight it the only way the people will let them, but the act of fighting it will cause it. What needs to be done, the people won't allow the govt to do.

Huh?

The point was some people think we'd be in some sort of danger if we brought the troops home. I say "what danger?" Our military is being used to further the profits and secure monopolies of the money makers in DC. Nothing more.

No one has attacked our economy more than our own government and the stockholders of the Federal Reserve. With our manufacturing base where it belongs, at home, who could attack it ...other than the enemy within?
