So my garden is chugging along, but i have run into a problem. My daughter decided that she wanted to play with the colorful tags i used and removed them all. A few items are easy to id. Crookneck, tomatoes, turnips and the like, but i have no ides what these are, or when they are ready.
Item 1 is 6" x almost 3"

the second is the size of a baseball

Any help would be great.

Pics won't enlarge bigger than a thumbnail, but the first looks like a watermelon, and the second a cantaloupe.

Tough to make out with the pics given.
1- zuke or watermelon depending on whether the growth has a bit of tiny "hairs". Smooth and hairless would be watermelon. Really fast growth with a bit of "hair" would be zuke. Zukes grow much faster than melons...keep an eye on the growth speed.

2- Looks like Rolo to me....round zuke.

I would say the first one is a squash. I'm hoping a Delicata because they are very sweet.

I would say the next one is a melon of some sort.

Just call them your surprise patch. Then wait until they mature. Get a contest going in the family on what it could be and have a prize for the winners.
