Hello just wanted everyone to know I just recieved my first Nepalese kukri from kukri house. It is a nice blade it does have a couple of cosmetic flaws but I am happy. I bought this one to be a beater/hard user anyway. I know they have other companies and I think I will try one of the others when I get my next one to hang over my fireplace. This one however is perdect fit for my back pack and just gives me a good feeling to handle it.

Awesome. Get a Gurkha or two, to go with! Some of the best fighters in the world!

My Dad in law was a British Commando during WWII. He had the best respect for the Gurk's!
I've had a difficult time trying to justify one. BK2 for the knife part, Fiskars small axe for the axe part. No spot in my BOB for such a weapon. What made the choice for you, and how is it working for you over a traditional knife/axe combo?
Thing is I don't try to justify it as I also uses fiskars hatchet along with a combo of a grohmann boat knife or rc3 or fallkniven f1. I got it soley because I just like the style, it is a time proven tool and basically I just wanted one. Now I must say at a blade length of 10.5 it does fit in my molle bag better than my fiskars. I like it because I feel it is a cross between a machete and hatchet. I can cut wood and while I doubt it will do well in the viney jungle I see it's utility with light brush. It can also perform as a large knife of game cleaning. When I do get to use it I plan on paring it with a rc3, grohmann boat knife or fallkniven f1 for a small utility precision blade and a swiss spirit multi tool. I have not actually used it yet as I just recieved it. In my realistic thinking it will serve as a chopper for wood and shelter construction, brush clearing and might get used to butcher a few goats and deer in my lifetime as well as be a nice conversation piece. In my fantasy thinking, it will do all the above and be my shtf lightsaber after all the bullets have run out.

Thats a really nice blade, it should serve you well.
What model of kukri is that? I bought a couple of kukris from the same place before. Would like to get a few more for the collection.
If you go on KH's website and do a search or look in their catalog it will be listed as the sirupate special hunter

loki I have one similar looking to yours (blade not handle) http://www.khukurihouseonline.com/C...p?PID=03c6b06952c750899bb03d998e631860|5c4548 the blade to me feels a little narrow for chopping then that could just be because mines a shorter blade also. Ive used it for cutting down small trees and splitting its up to the job but not as easy to use as an axe. Would be interested in a full review once youve put it through its paces.
Loki , great looking knife.

Here are a few more informational sites about these wonder blades you might enjoy if you havn't seen them already:

Very nice blades. I love the kukri. An excellent choice.
I love my KH Kukri. Not sure how practical it will be in a BOB, but I like it anyway. Some things you just have to have because you want them... not because you need them.
Excellent knives! They´ve got the handiness of knives and nearly the power of a handaxe.Good choise.
