Today was a good day. A friend that I have had for forty years called and said that he was stopping by for a few hours.

We don't get to see each other often because we live a opposite ends of the state. And whenever he comes he has his wife with him.

They are very Liberal minded people and are totally against anyone other then the police owning guns.

Since his wife wasn't here today I asked " hey you want to shoot one of my guns just to see what it is like , and he said no thanks , I said have you ever seen the picture of Bin Laden sitting on the floor with the gun propped against the wall, and he said yes and I told him I have one just like that."

It was to much for him he couldn't resist. I went and got my AK and we went out to my range and he was almost in a trance just holding it.

I took some milk jugs of water so there would be a big splash , I have an EOTech sight on it so it was just point and shoot.

He loved it , by the time he quit he was shooting three round burst and asking what was next. I let him shoot every gun I had , the 12 gauge , he was afraid of because it hurt his shoulder , and the hand guns with the kick really scared him , because he almost hit himself in the forehead.

But when he left he said can we do this the next time I come up , I told him sure I would set us up some good targets.

He is 68 years old and had never shot a gun before. I think he is sorry it took so long.

Now you need to take him to buy one for himself or better yet give him one as a gift. Nothing fancy a simple $100 .22 from wal-mart that won't kick and which anybody can afford to shoot. From there he'll expand his collection on his own and we'll have another brother in the shooting fraternity come voting time.

LOL good story. I have seen a few anti's converted this way. Not lava-breathing Nancy Pelosi type of anti's but folks who just didn't get it, saw no reason why ordinary citizens needed to have guns. Sending a bit of lead downrange almost always makes them understand

But, Democrat isn't always equal to liberal and liberal isn't always equal to anti-gun. He may now enjoy firearms but I doubt you've switched him to a full-blown conservative. Don't give up though, you have made some headway Glad you had fun.

I know alot of democrats who own and shoot weapons (including myself). Shooting a gun wouldn't necessarily turn a liberal into a conservative.

Done the same thing with some guys from England who I met in college. There were five of them. Hated the word "gun", and were extremely anti-hunting as well. One of them was relatively open minded, though, and I convinced him to go bowfishing with me. I took my .45 with me and got him to shoot it. He loved it. Went and told the other guys how much fun it was. Next time out I let him shoot my AR 15. I thought he was gonna drool all over it. Before I knew it all five of them wanted to go out shooting and bowfishing every weekend. When they went back across the pond when the school year was up they all said they wanna come back some day and go deer hunting. I thought that was cool. I reckon a lot of anti-hunters and anti-gunners are that way not because it's their fault, but they just don't know any better. :thumb:
