Sorry, I don't have any pictures yet, but it is a 1985 3br/2ba 14x60 Manufactured home. This is the first home we have ever bought, so needless to say, we are excited. Unfortunately, it is set in a park and the home can not be moved until it is paid off. But, they were asking $35,000 for it and we got them down to $20,000 with a $1,500 down on a 10 year carry. If we play our cards right, we can pay it off in 2 years and 9 months. And then. . .It is off to find some land to set this baby on and begin getting off the grid.

I mention this home, because this is a great big THANK YOU to everyone here at this forum. Until I found you, I was sort of lost in how to prepare. My mindset was a little bit scatter brained and it was easy for me to lose focus of my goals. Reading through all these threads of all the experienced members here has caused me to stop, think, read, and put almost all my priorities in order. You guys have shown me that it ain't necessarily what you do, but how you do it. That it ain't necessarily about getting knocked down, but whether you get up and how you get up that matters.

I will not mention specific members here and the threads they have started that inspired me to pull my head out of my behind and get focused, because I have read and subscribed to so many that I don't want to leave anyone out. So, I am just going to thank each and every member here, especially the Admins and Mods. :thumb:

I know it may not seem like a big deal to some for the little accomplishments I have made throughout these past few months, but coming from a kid who was raised on the streets to where I am now, it is a huge step forward. Ok. . . lol. . I'll quit jabbering now. I gotta go till my garden. See you soon. :thumb:

Congratulations on your new home.

The first home is usually the biggest deal in anyone's life. I know when I bought my first home about 4 years ago that it was the biggest deal of my life. Bought it for 57.000 USD (cheap!), and it needed a little love here and there, but it has everything - and is near everything so I can go anywhere I want, fast - don't even need a car here where I live. It's a yellow brick-stone house built for Scandinavian weather conditions.

You'll no doubt be feeling really cozy in your new home, being a homeowner feels so much safer - so work of those mortgages like crazy and OWN your home for real. There's something sweet and special to walk around where you actually own the walls, floors & roof. You can do anything you want with it, change it anyway you want, sky's the limit (or wallet...that is).

Ahhh...to have that "new homeowner" feeling again, I kind of envy you a little ;)

Congrats dude! I'm glad you got what you wanted.

You are an inspiration because I am in the process, and by process I mean planning everything out, of searching for and finding my future homestead. Over the last month I just consolidated everything I physically own, put stuff I don't need right now but will use at my homestead in a storage unit. I sold my home I was currently in and have moved into a studio apartment. The apartment is cheaper than my house payment was so I'm saving money and it allowed me to sell my home for a profit. So while I am here at the apartment I am continuing to consolidate any and all bills, which I'm pretty much done with. Anything I buy for the homestead will go into my storage unit. So over the next 6 months to a year I am going to be homestead shopping. I can't wait.

Glad you got a good deal!

radio,

Was it financed thru the park owner? It sounds strange that it cannot be moved from any particular park/location until it is paid off.
It is through the Park Owner. Since I still owe space rent, he doesn't want me to move the home until it is paid off. I get it. It would be nice if I could move it sooner, but I couldn't anyways. Doing it this way, it will give us time to find land. It will be almost 3 years until we pay it off. But, it's cool. This, to me, is a gift horse. I don't want to look it in the mouth. :)

I was going to post a new topic but thought it best to just post it here.

So, this is the home I bought. It's a 3br./2ba. Manufactured. It's sitting on .23 acre.

We dug through all the crap on this side of the house because it gets at least 6 hours of sunlight. But because the ground is filled with rocks, I'll just build a bunch of boxes for a raised garden. Everything will go in pots. The tomatoes and a few others will go here I think.

Off to the left and back against the fence is where the last people had their garden. It was 3 rows. The dug up dirt in the middle is where our potatoes are going. Some of them, anyways. We will be building little islands for all sorts of things throughout that half of the yard.

This is the first of our potatoes. The sticks rising up is our marker. Wanna know where they are.

Our very first attempt at Asparagus. Left side of the property by the yapping dogs next door. We plan on rows of corn to go along side the fence (50) to get them off our backs until we can afford the dog-eared fence.

This thing here is called "Miss Blossom". We bought a Cherry Tree about a week ago and there was just one flower on it. So, my daughter named her and thanks to my wife, that name stuck.

A shed we bought a week ago. 8x10 from Old Hickory Sheds. It was a repo so we got a good deal on it. My son is going to be 15 in a couple months. So, I told him that if he shows some responsibility from now until he is 15 1/2 (when he can work), I will bring all that stuff out of the shed and convert it into a bedroom for him.

I wanted to show this picture again for two reasons. 1. Because I am proud as hell of what we have accomplished in these hard years. And we have finally been able to have something to show for our hard work. I know it ain't much, but it's ours.: And 2. . .

2. Because that dog in this pic is my girl. Her name is Money. She's the smartest dog I have ever had. She makes the dumbest decisions sometimes but she won my heart.Somehow. . Some. . .way, this girl manages to stick around. She pulls some shenanigans that would have gotten the rest of my dogs the boot. But, not her. . . She's a good girl. Loyal to 'her' family. Never barks, but will let you know your place if you mess with us.

Anyway.. . It's not a 'homestead', yet. . .It's not a mansion. It's a start? Welcome to my home. :)

I am so happy and excited for you. It's a tremendous accomplishment and an inspiration to a bunch of other people too that IT CAN be done.

Heartfelt Congratulations and thank you for showing us your home. You inspired me greatly tonight. :)
