It appears that this entire thing was over a conspiracy to wage war against cops and fed agencies.

This could be 2 different scenarios...
1. Somebody is nuts
or,
Somebody runs his mouth making himself out to be bigger than he is.

Read the indictment as posted. The gist of it is they planned to ignite Civil War II by killing a cop or some other act of violence to as stated in the indictment -"HUTAREE would commit some violent act to draw the attention of law enforcement or government officials and which would prompt a response by law enforcement."

The rest is a hissy fit because they (gasp) carried weapons and they (gasp) practiced battle drills and (gasp) prepped or set up a rank system!!! OMG!
Yeah I'm being sarcastic.

IF and I do mean IF the feds have the evidence to prove this (the violent act) then some H-Militia are in heap, deep and big doo-doo.

Since when has carrying weapons been a crime? For that matter war gaming or prepping?

IMHO everything the feds say is a lie till proven otherwise. My problem with the main count - planning to kill a cop or some other act to "draw the attention of law enforcement is SO STUPID!!! You lose the sympathy of the general public and lose the moral high ground.

Also IF they were seeking a violent confrontation with LEO's then why no shoot outs? After all IF LEO attention was what they were allegedly seeking why did they not mix it up when they got the "attention". With helicopters flying and a "small army" descending on them they certainly had a target rich environment to start CWII.

This stinks to high Heaven, I guess now every little boy who ever put on camo's and played war must now be read his rights.

There could be a few more scenarios.

3. Scapegoated.

4. Actually about to do something they were planning on.

5. Had illegal materials.

Either way, I am more interested on what lead how/law enforcement found out about the plan. Someone in the group say something they weren't suppsoed to? Someone watching their online activity/emails, inside agent etc. To me that is the bigger story.

I havent seen one thing in any of the statements made about how LEO knew about this or what the evidence is. Im not saying there isnt any, but why dont they at least claim a source?

I caught a CNN spiel from Rick Sanchez and I actually got me wondering if there's something more to this. He acted like he was getting off on reporting this. In addition about a week ago Jack Cafferty read a bunch of posts and blogs about trying to get rid of all the groups opposing the president's agenda.

For almost a year now we've been hearing about right-wing extremists, the "Angry Mob", Oathkeepers and all the other groups that the dems and SPLC oppose. Up until now they have failed to put a face to the enemy. Maybe this is it. Maybe we have the "see we told you so" type action.

Now I'm not condoning or condemning anything that this group has done, since I don't know anything about them, but for once it made me wonder.

I just read the indictment. We already knew the FBI has been watching them for a while, you can see that from the dates posted in the charges. So, the govt already has pre determined that all Militas need to be on a watch list and are the enemy. Thats what it looks like to me.

Mug shots are not attractive, thanks for sharing.

The Govt claims that this Militia is anti-government.

You know they dont just mean this militia but all Militia.

Therefore the FBI and every alphabet soup agency must be Anti-Militia.

I thought that forming a Militia was supposed to be protected under the Constitution?

If that is true , then the Govt must be against the Constitution as well.

Someone tell me Im on the wrong path.

Anyone want to debate the greyman concept again?
Wanna run around in the woods with guns?
Wanna run around in camo looking tough?

This is what happens. This is also why the Militias are zero threat. Every third man is probably an informer. Take up ping pong if you want to practice hand eye coordination.

Regardless, the Feds have accomplished their goal. The federal government is rapidly instituting socialism in this country and they have now given notice that anyone that opposes them will be crushed. The feds are also telling us that even thinking bad thoughts about the socialists is reason for arrest. It's an effective technique to quash your opposition!

To add to the PR campaign, they've had talking heads all over the news media (including Fox News) saying that these militia people are crazy nutjobs - they're all crazed religious terrorists - just like Osama. Very effective in preventing the opposition to socialism from organizing. This is exactly why they're demonizing the tea party participants. Score: Federal Government: 1, People: 0.

Has anyone been to their web site, i have if and i repeat if what i saw was not planted and was the norm. A sane person would not want anything to do with that bunch. That is my opine of what i saw, no word's for the garbage on there, if it's real. Freedom to speak ones mind is fine with me, what ever they want to say. Find a link, go to forum and enough said. I can't say what to really think because i had never been there before today. So i can't give a good opine but ya can make up your own. I will not post a link to the site.

The Nazi Germans, the Fascist Japanese, Islamo-Fascists, and many other monsters throughout history chose people for destruction in one manner or another based upon what they looked like.

They just seem like very average midwesterners to me...

Very sorry if they don't meet some standards that you have for inclusion into the citizenry.

LOL....deny much?

WASHINGTON — Nine members of a Michigan-based Christian militia group have been indicted on sedition and weapons charges in connection with an alleged plot to murder law enforcement officers in hopes of setting off an antigovernment uprising.

In court filings unsealed Monday, the Justice Department accused the nine people of planning to kill an unidentified law enforcement officer, then plant improvised explosive devices of a type used by insurgents in Iraq to attack the funeral procession.

Eight of the defendants were arrested over the weekend in raids in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. A ninth remained at large, the Justice Department said. The indictments against them were returned last Tuesday. The defendants were identified as members of Hutaree, described by federal prosecutors as an anti-government extremist organization based in Lenawee County, Mich., and which advocates violence against local, state and federal law enforcement. The group saw local and state police as “foot soldiers” for the federal government, which it viewed as its enemy, along with participants in what they deemed to be a “New World Order,” according to the indictment.

“This is an example of radical and extremist fringe groups which can be found throughout our society,” Andrew Arena, an F.B.I. special agent in charge in Detroit, said in a statement. “The F.B.I. takes such extremist groups seriously, especially those who would target innocent citizens and the law enforcement officers who protect the citizens of the United States.”

A law enforcement official said that the alleged plot was unconnected to recent threats against Democratic members of Congress who voted for legislation overhauling the nation’s health care system.

A Web site for the Hutaree group talks about a coming battle against the putative forces of the Antichrist but does not appear to focus explicitly on recent political events.

The Web site, which describes the group as “preparing for the end times,” featured video clips of people running through woods in camouflage gear and firing assault rifles, along with links to gun stores and far-right media. It also features an elaborate system of military ranks for its members. The site says it coined the term Hutaree, intended to mean Christian warrior.

“Jesus wanted us to be ready to defend ourselves using the sword and stay alive using equipment,” the Web site says, adding, “The Hutaree will one day see its enemy and meet him on the battlefield if so God wills it.”

The indictment charged that from August 2008 to the present, the defendants — led by David Brian Stone, 45, who also used the name “Captain Hutaree” — developed a conspiracy that they hoped would result in a war against the United States government. They allegedly decided they would kill a local law enforcement officer, and then bomb the funeral caravan. The killings “would intimidate and demoralize law enforcement diminishing their ranks and rendering them ineffective,” it said.

Afterward, the indictment said, Hutaree members would retreat to several “rally points” and wage war against the government, using prepared fighting positions as well as “trip-wired and command-detonated” bombs.

“It is believed by the Hutaree that this engagement would then serve as a catalyst for a more widespread uprising against the government,” the indictment said.

Mr. Stone used the Internet to obtain diagrams of “explosively formed projectiles,” a particularly lethal form of roadside bombs responsible for many deaths of United States soldiers in Iraq, the indictment said.

It says that he e-mailed diagrams of such devices to a person he believed to be capable of manufacturing them, and then directed one of his sons to obtain the materials to make them. It also says he and his other son taught other Hutaree members how to make bombs in June 2009.

Barbara McQuade, the United States attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, said the government moved to arrest the members of the group this past weekend to short-circuit some operation it had planned to do next month, and which she did not explain in detail.

“Because the Hutaree had planned a covert reconnaissance operation for April which had the potential of placing an unsuspecting member of the public at risk, the safety of the public and of the law enforcement community demanded intervention at this time.”

All nine people face the charges of seditious conspiracy, attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction, and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence. In addition, Mr. Stone and one of his sons, David Brian Stone Jr., has been charged with teaching the use of explosive materials.

They're white, rural, christian...and completely worthy of the leftist's "sanctioned" hate.
If they were of any other group, FX wouldn't dare criticize them.

I have not looked at their site and perhaps when I do, I may come to find that they stand for evil, and as a group, they are as crazy as a Buffalo Winter is long....

That being said, I do not think it is responsible for anyone to look at someone and say, "oh look, he has a mullet... he must be a....," or "she has a short haircut and is not wearing makeup. I guess that makes her a ...," or "uh oh, that guy shaved his head. He must be a ...."

That is every bit as ignorant, backword and vile as, "he's black, therefore he must...," or "she's hispanic, so she must...," or "he's from Canada, so therefore he must think....."

Ignorance is ignorance. Discrimination is discrimination. It is backward, vile, anti-Christian and is an affront to everything that America stands for, or should.
