Hello!

I am currently in an argument online in the comments section of a yahoo article, and I am arguing with an anti-gun left winger who thinks guns should be banned in the U.S.

I would like as many links to legit news stories (no "well my cousins friends cousin told me...") of where guns have saved people! Please just find the link and paste below! Thanks! :D:

Throughout the last century, worldwide, of all the people murdered in cold blood, 9 out of 10 were murdered by their own governments.

The Second Amendment does not protect the right to own and use a gun for self defense. This is not because that use is not a right, but because that right was needs no clarification. Neither does the right to use a gun to hunt game to feed your family, or to use a gun for recreational target shooting. The Founding Fathers never clarified these aspects of the right, because these aspects are profoundly self-evident, and were not remotely questionable when the Constitution was written.

No, the only aspect of the right to keep and bear arms that needed clarification was the right to keep and bear them even against the militia. The prefatory clause in the Second Amendment is a juxtaposition with the operative clause. The comma means "however."

Mother of twins in GA shoots intruder 5x saving herself and her twins.

YOU WILL LOVE THIS!!! Here is an article showing that the statistical murder rates of places with handgun bans did not go down when guns were banned. Murderers just found other ways to kill each other... here is the article:

But just realize that leftist-gungrabbers hardly look real data but instead go for the "GUNS KILL" approach of arguments and debate.

look for a CDC study which showed that between 500K-3M crimes are stopped by civilians with guns each year.

Many times guns stop crimes, but how is that supposed to be reported?
I would argue that the number of crimes stopped are FAR greater than that measly number. Think about this; A lot of crimes are stopped- in certain areas- solely because the would be criminals don't know if they are walking into a situation where they might meet armed resistance. Their intentions are always the same- easy money with little risk or effort. So, while that number quoted might be the number of crimes stopped by the citizen just pulling out a gun- it does not show the others where the criminal didn't attempt it because they just didn't know what they might be up against. Go to cities where the citizenry has been disarmed by the government- and you see - rampant crime because the criminal element understands that their sheep have been disarmed; all that they need is brute force; whether it be by one or in a small group.

I would want a scientific study vs a logical argument. A logical argument underpins every scientific study, but until there is data it is just a hypothesis.

For example, in cities that have banned guns that have rampant crime, generally the crime came first and the gun bans were a response to the crime.

The freakonomics guys cited a study which showed terminating pregnancy legalization has most likely lowered crime the most (controlling for all kinds of variables like poverty, race etc)

Without some controls, such as cities with rampant crime that encouraged gun ownership causing crime to drop, Im skeptical that restricting gun rights increases crime. It also isnt clear to me that liberal gun laws reduce crime in any statistical way.

The worst thing that could happen to society is to have a Tyrant like Hitler, Stalin or Obama take power. Tyrants have murdered 10's of millions and destroyed their societies. The people who wrote the constitution and bill of rights had just fought a war against Tyrant King George using private firearms for the most part and they wanted to ensure that the people were able to do so in the future. That is why the 2nd amendment was added to the Bill of Rights.
