I have a Gurkha Kukri knife (from Nepal) that is as sharp as butter. I don't want to just let anyone sharpen it because I don't want to foul up the blade. I've watched several videos on Youtube on how to sharpen it and I'm extremely skeptical about what I've seen. Does anyone here have the PROPER know-how to sharpen a Gurkha Kukri knife?

I sharpen it like any other knife. BUT I do keep the inner bend at a sharper angle than the belly. Inner bend is for finer work such as carving and slicing. The belly is for heavy chopping so I keep it at about a 35-40 degree angle.

I screwed up my ghurka kukri from Cs, by trying to convex it the first time i ever tried convexing, and i scratched it all up, so now i gotta find a way to polish it. Alot of people say convexing is best for the kukri's, i agree cause now it really really bites into wood. But its take practice to get good at convexing, and sandpaper etc, once you have the grind at a convex then you can sharpen it with stones and skill easily.

To sharpen the kukri i recommend a Lansky Puck, it's a circular stone that allows you to get into the recurve and you can still keep a convex shape to it. I use an EZE-LAP Diamond rod to touch up mine.
