Got a question, I like the Berreta 92 and am looking for a good tatical holister that won't break the bank. Think I like the drop leg stlye but am wondering about a tactical vest. I need some opinions, maybe some of the milatary folks could chime in. Comfort is also something I worry about. This would be used mainly for a SHTF and hunting type of thing. Thanks for any opinions in advance. Great site by the way!

I'd try and find two blackhawk SERPA holsters on ebay, one with a drop leg and one with the MOLLE attachment. There are a long of used ones popping up with everyone coming back from deployment and getting out... bet you could get two for pretty cheap.

Forget about a tacticool thigh mount. They get caught up on everything around and bounce more than a topless dancer. Get an old school M12 holster. They have been around for decades and still rock. It's not very "cool" holster - its a "protect your pistol no matter what the environment while keeping it secure" holster.

You should buy what you want...but you should buy quality. That may or may not be expensive. When your life depends on it, quality will always come through. Your weapon is no good to you if you "dumped" it 20 yards back running for cover.

All good comments, I can see the drop leg getting in the way. May have to rethink this. What about the vest, I see the berreta attached on the left side, might be a better option?

Usually the mall has rules on which you will need to be accepted.

The guys hanging around the fountain generally prefer the vest but if your crew prefers the food court you may want the drop leg style for convenient draw while sitting at the tables.

I chose the Level 2 Tactical Serpa holster from Blackhawk. Got it today actually.
Love at first draw! Very nice quality, comfortable,. Feels solid on my leg. I highly recommend looking at this holster.
I'm very pleased. Well worth the monies. IMO

I don't see the point of making fun of people over holster choice, but hey that's my opinion. Both leg rigs and Vest holsters have their place and depend on the rig you are wearing. I agree with the Serpa for both uses as it has good retention and a very natural draw. If you wear a thigh holster make sure it has two leg straps and doesn't ride too low on the thigh. I don't personally see much use for thigh holsters though unless one is wearing body armor or a pack with waist belt that would get in the way of a draw. Drawing from a chest mounted holster is nice depending on how much [email protected] you have attached to the vest. I have bought, worn and used many different setup and have tried on others kits to see how I like them. I suggest you do the same before you purchase something only to throw it into a box because you find it's just not what you needed.

If you have the typical AR/M4 pouches on your vest, most any handgun with or w/o a light will fit in there just fine. That includes pouches made by Maxpedition, Eagle, Blackhawk, 5.11, TAG, Tactical Tailor and London Bridge, so you don't need a holster for most vests or chest rigs. My Eagle TAC V1-N/U will accept 1911's, Glock, Sig, Beretta, HK USP/P30, P9S, P7, XD, S&W 3rd Gen, M&P... everything I have ever owned with the exception of a Desert Eagle.

A $20 Uncle Mikes Kydex will do fine for range or practical use.
