Good, bad, ugly?? I'm starting to look for a pistol and came across this brand. Since I so highly value everyones opinion here I thought I would ask y'all. They are American made which I like and have a life time warranty but... As Tommy said, "I can sh*t in a box and guarantee it." Any experience? (With the brand I mean, not with sh**ting in a box.)

I've got the C9, put over 1000 rounds through it with no jams or misfeeds after I put new mags in. My first mag had a worn spring and would occasionally need a little slap to chamber a round. They are cheap guns, cant carry them locked n loaded, which is why many dislike them. I use mine as my truck gun and it is a lot of fun to plink with as well. It's pretty darn accurate too, I can nail soda cans consistently at 20 yards no problem instinctively shooting.

If you need a gun for concealed carry, I'd recommend something lighter, thinner, and with a better safety than what the hi point offers. It makes a dandy nightstand and truck gun, though for the money.

I have a C9. It has been 100% reliable. Some claim to have had problems with them. I bought it as a cheap truck gun ("$129.00). I have had no problems with it. I wish it was not so ugly and had better balance, and a better trigger. Other than those minor issues i think its a great gun. Because of the trigger issue, I would not recommend it for a first pistol.

Shot my friends a few times. Chunky, bad ergonomics, single stack mag, plastic feeling trigger, no easy breakdown...but it was cheap and went bang everytime. My friend was dead accurate with it.

I'd use one for a truck gun, but it wouldn't be my first choice for personal defense. (Just a personal preference, it would do the job.)

I have a Hi Point 9mm. For the $100 I paid for it its ok. I use it for carrying in my boat to discourage snakes from crawling in with me. Tried to shoot a snake in my back yard last spring and it took the entire 8 rnds in the mag to get 1 hit from 5 ft and managed to hit an old boat 3 ft to the side. Now Im by no means an expert marksman, but Im better than THAT.
Needless to say, 3 months later I bought my Springfield XD 40.
The Hi Point is fine if thats what you can afford, but I would not be relying on it as a primary weapon and I would probably spend the extra money on something better.

I guess specifically my problem lies in the plastic 'easy-to-adjust' rear sight. If its too easy to adjust, the gun can adjust it itself each time you fire and I think thats whats happening to mine. My 40 has dovetail sights and require a hammer and a sight driver to adjust.

Snake rounds for your snake problem. The sights on mine stayed where I set them.

Never had any problems with it. eats all ammo I put through it. Accurate. although truly butt ugly and cheap feeling.

Great gun for 130 dollars, whatever that's worth. Get one get a bulk pack of the cheapest 9mm you can find (corrosive or non, it doesn't matter, they'll fix it if it breaks or corrodes) and go have some fun at the range. Just don't carry it for SD

Have a 45 as a BOB gun, Shot it alot and have no problems. The main thing I hear comes from snobs.

Snobs wont be around to protect or feed me when needed. Funny how man invented the gun for protection and hunting and now if it is not a certain brand or looks or feel it is looked down upon. Now....... let me get back to listening to my 8 track.

I still have a stack of LP's and 45's.

Hi-Point functions, butt-ugly, brick-on-a-stick, inexpensive, functional firearms.
They tend to go bang when you pull the trigger (I have seen more of the pricey guns fail to do that than the cheap ones).

Other than the sight issue, I cant think of any more issues with mine. I dont remember any misfires or jams. However, another POTENTIAL issue is some aftermarket mags. Since mine only came with one, I bought a second a few weeks later. After loading it 3 times it literally fell apart while trying to load the fourth. Still havent had any issues with the mag that came with the gun, but make sure you stick with that kind.

I have the 9mm as a truck gun and sometimes carry it when out walking my land. After close to 1000 rounds I have yet to have a problem. However I used to have the 380 and couldn't get it to go through a single magazine without a miss feed.

A good friend of mine has the 45 and 40 as well as the carbines to go with them. He also has the 380 and has the same problem with it. The rest of them fire great and the rifles are fun plinkers.

For the price I like em but stay away from the 380. The only other problem is they aren't good for a ccw. Way too bulky.

I own a Hi-Point .380 a C9 and a 995 Carbine I have put well over 1000 rounds down range with these guns. I have had no problems with these guns as far as failure to feed or failure to fire, the carbine is deadly accurate out to 100 yards. The c9 is accurate as well at 25 yards. The only problem that I had was the mag retainer clip broke on the c9, I called customer service and told them the problem They shipped me the parts that I needed to fix the problem no questions asked and they through in a free mag. for my trouble! I would recommend the Hi-Point to anyone!!

If they are what you can afford great it is better to be armed with a highpoint than not at all. However I would not want to trust my life to a weapon from the bargain bin. I would rather hit the gun shows and find a good surplus weapon or second hand with a good amount of life left in it. I have heard the carbines can't be beat for the cost. I must agree with the "butt-ugly brick on a stick" On a side note any weapon I can't field strip in the dark in under a minuet will not be in my arsenal.
