Hello out there,

New to this site.

I've had a bit of survivalist edge to my world-view for the latter third of my life (i.e. since I was 14; I am only 21 now).

I've lived within an urban region of 5 million people my whole life, and while I appreciate some of the benefits {ex.cultural diversity}, I've always realized that the collective lifestyle we live in North American cities is not ecologically sustainable, socially just, or resilient (i.e. because of the way global agricultural trade works out, if the U.S. border closed, we'd run out of food in Toronto within 3 days, even though we could be way way way more self-sufficient regionally).

I plan on getting rural land probably in 2 or 3 years, and starting a Permaculture homestead / community.
