Has anyone tried a Hennessy Hammock? They are kinda pricey at $120+ - but sometimes you get what you pay for.

I am looking at buying a parachute hammock next weekend like what San Antonio posted about at this link.

The parachute hammock is $20 compared to $120 for a Hennessy Hammock. My current hammock is about 15 years old, and its long past time for an upgrade.

I looked at the GI Jungle hammock but they look cheaply made.

Everyone I know who uses an HH swears by it. Here is a forum of HH affectionados, and possibly one of the best sources of information I've found on it. My fiance still owes me one from about three birthdays ago, they were out of stick when she went to buy it at the local outfitter. I think she just wants to make sure we still sleep in the tent together so I can keep her warm. ;)

From what I can tell, the HH is different from many hammocks, because you sleep kind of diagonally in it, allowing you to sleep with a straight back. I can nap in a cheap hammock, but would never camp in one because of the way my lower back feels after an hour long nap in one. Not fun trying to do an 18 mile day when your back feel folded like a jack knife.

Kev you know I got one. If you wanted a tour, all you had to do was ask. LOL

I will get it out this week end and take some vids. I have only camped with it one time, but so far a BIG thumbs up.

Here are a few links.

Mine is the EXPLORER DELUXE A-SYM

Link to a current vid of mine that has a few pictures of it but not really good.

I have been drooling over my friend Ben's HH for a year now. It is the only hammock I have seen where you can sleep comfortably on your side. I hope to be getting mine on my next birthday. Be sure you order the snake skins. The set up and take down is extremly easy with them. He ripped his rain fly near one seam. He called Hennessey to see if they had a patch kit. Hennessey sent him a new hammock. Not just the rain fly. They didn't want the old one back. They didn't charge shipping. That is customer service. They have my vote.

I looked into DD hammocks. Did you catch the shipping charge $50.00. WOW!

While your shopping around check out the Clark Jungle Hammock. It is more pricey than the Hennessey, but has a place to insulate your back side. If you like the cold weather trips. Hammocks are cold on the arse due to the compression of your sleeping bag.

Love it!

I purchased the HH Expedition Asym last year and love it. If you get one make sure to get the snake skins too, they make setting up and breaking camp super fast. I also never thought that it was possible to sleep flat on my back in a hammock, but if you turn your body at an angle to the anchor points you can. It's the best nights sleep I have ever had.

I have been trying to decide on whether or not this would be good for my main hiking shelter.

Anyone use it in cold conditions? I know you aren't in contact with the ground where most of the heat would escape, but it still seems like your underside would be exposed.

Nice vids Josiah I haven't been able to find videos or picture on how to setup and was trying to find out. Thanks!

I'm looking at getting my first hammock and a lot, if not all, of my questions are answered here http://www.hammockforums.net It's a great site and there seems to be an owner/user for every brand of hammock made so you can get info easily. I was looking into Hennessy but I don't know about sleeping on the diagonal across the opening.... I see myself falling out thru the bottom easily... :) I'm trying to decide which to go with for my first hammock.
