Today I picked up something from Craigslist that I've got questions about. I found a local guy who was getting rid of some 20 gauge shotshells and a case. I got 101 highbrass 20 gauge shotshells w/ a MTM case gard 100 for $30.
10 Winchester 3" #5 supreme (I'm guessing turkey loads)
10 Remington Epress 2 3/4" #6
6 Federal 2 3/4" (2 1/2 7/8) Game load (not sure why is has 2 1/2 on it if it is a 2 3/4" shell???)
5 Federal 2 3/4" Duck & Pheasant #6
3 Federal 2 3/4" Duck & Pheasant #4
67 Federal 2 3/4" Hi-Power #6
------
101 total various highbrass 20 gauge shotshells w/ case

My question is how old are these? I tried to google them and couldn't find anything except pics from long expired auctions. I'm guessing they were part of an old stockpile as the guy who got them received them in part of a trade for bow but had no use for them. They are in great shape but do have some what of a dirty look on a few. They definately look older but fireable.

The 20 gauge I have I got for $80 recently (and actually posted about it here a while back). It's in near perfect condition but is a 25+ yr old Western Field (Montgomery Ward branded Mossberg 500 20g) w/ a 28" barrel and fixed full choke. I'm told the barrel shouldn't use any steel shot as the choke is fixed.

Anyone think I'll have problems shooting old shotshells in an old gun?

I'll probably just stash the gun and shotshells/case away for whenever it needs to be used as I already have a 12 gauge Mossy that I hunt w/.

Any help w/ this ammo find is much appreciated.

$6 a box for older and questionable quality ...... kinda pricey ......

But the shells are probably ok ..... plan on using them in a back up - back up usage role ..... no personal defense use or even a hunting use if a kill is a must ......
