Why larger than a 30-06 if I may ask? Have you looked into the Ruger Gunsite scout? bolt action in a .308 (more than capable round)
If you are going to get a carbine in a pistol caliber, get a Kel-tec sub 2000. it takes all Glock mags AND folds in half (convenient for hiding in a pizza box when you make a delivery to that big white castle on Pennsylvania ave.) oops there goes my free speech again, sorry.
