Hello from WV

Just found these forums and I am SO GLAD I did..

4 days ago a chemical plant had a leak and has contaminated our water supply here in WV. It is effecting 9 counties and hundreds of thousands of people. We are on a NO USE ban right now. We can only use the water for flushing. They still do not know how long this will last...several more days to several more weeks.. most restaurants are closed (they opened 4 yesterday in 9 counties) and our local government had to declare a state of emergency to get FEMA to bring in water as we had a water shortage. It has been a REAL eyeopener to say the least!!!

I did not realize until this disaster how truly unprepared we are!! It's horrible!! I will NOT be unprepared EVER again!!

I am glad I found this site with like minded friends...

Howdy Rabelgirls, welcome to the boards and sorry you are going through this rough time.

Even though I am nowhere near your state I am keeping a close eye on what is going on. I am using this as a teachable moment for relatives and friends of mine that have always made fun of me for storing extra.

I was able to tell my husband I told you so when he finally agreed that storing water was a good thing after he heard about what is going on in WV.

Hope you and your family are doing ok after this fiasco.

After this clears and you go back to somewhat normalcy please stay around and also visit with us ladies in the Ladies thread also known as the Girlvivalist Hangout. Men are not allowed to post.

Welcome from Central West Virginia.....We're not in the bad water zone...thankfully..sorry for all your troubles and hope it all ends soon. Lots of help coming but I'm sure the inconvenience is not appreciated. I'm in a rural area with both city water and my old water well. I can switch back and forth with a one way switch on the city intake. Watch the forum, read, learn and apply what's needed to your prepping and survival plans. Good luck
