Im considering making one in case of a power outage. I dont plan on putting it in the house, maybe outside with fittings that can be added to the hot water line going into the house.
I had planned to use it only in an outage. Have any of you folks made one? Did it work? What would you do differently?

Hadn't actually thought of one for wood, my idea was to use one designed for a RV, and have a small propane tank to go with it. But I do know they make woodstoves that have water jackets to allow for it to heat water. You could modify one of them I guess.

so i do not see why you could not make one

I would recommend trying an open system for your first model. Too easy to make a steam bomb if not vented or plumbed correctly.

I am currently in the process of designing one for my home made wood stove.
