My guess is he's mocking gun owners and the right to carry more than supporting. At least that's my guess from what I've heard about his political views.
The clip is great and I like, but it would probably be safer to just hand over the money. All the info I have heard on carry or self defense pretty much agrees on that. The exception would be when you have nothing left to give, but your life then its time to act, that or before the guy has time to react.
I did a bit of searching and he has done some stuff for the global warming cause and here is a bit where he talks about playing the role. Keep in mind though he doesn't have to be republican to like guns.
