Good Day Everyone,

I'm recently retired from the military, I've always been a survivalist at heart and mind, but until recently I really didn't think I had to actually look at making preparations. I have a long road and don't know how successful I will be because I am alone now and on a fixed income. I have the training, just need some refresher on a bunch of areas and a plan. I certainly don't want to be in CT if things go to hell. I hope to get myself straight and informed from this site and the people in it. Looking forward to getting the valuable advice, thanks!

First, welcome to the boards. Second, thank you for your service. Third, I wish you luck in your plans and hope you are successful in your prepping endevors. Yes you do have some of the training (as the military goes give SOME good training) and I believe that in joining this board you will aquire quite a bit of new info. Don't feel bad that you are alone, or that you are just starting out. YOU WILL MAKE IT!!!! Just plug away at it slowly, keep your head up, and stand firm in your resolve, and you will overcome the obstacles ahead! Besides, it could be worse. You think living in CT is bad??? huh, try living in ILLINOIS!!! Your location actually gives you a minor advantage to those less fortunate (like me) who have been prepping for a while! Just remember this is a process...that seems to never end! :)

Thanks guys for the welcome! Rev, you are right, Illinois might not be a top pick either. I was researching and am getting the jist that states like Idaho might be one of the more favorable to relocate to. Unfortunately divorce has left me in a less then favorable financial situation, so buying land there won't be an option. My chances lie in gaining the trust of like minded people who can utilize my skillset and invite me to the group. While its a long shot, there is still time :)
