I was hiking this weekend and when i finished i noticed the insoles of my boots finally gave. I've had the boots for around 8 years now that i bought on clearance for 20 bucks, so they've lived a excellent life for their price.
I'm not quite ready to call it quits on those boots and i'm now in the market for a new pair of insoles and I'm wondering what kind of replacement insoles are good that can match the longevity of these boots. I've tried most of the grocery store brands (ie Dr. Scholl's) for football season and they just don't have the longevity and most don't last two seasons (admittedly, football is quite brutal on many cleats in general).

I'll be the first person to claim complete ignorance in this manner but i'm looking for a good hiking insole that supports a 200+ pound frame with a 50-70 pound pack that lasts a long time.

I've been using Redwing ComfortForce insoles for the last couple decades, They have worked well for me.Last around 1.5 years of 9 hour a day, 5-6 day a week wear. 20 bucks a pair.

Granted, I'm not hiking in my boots, just on my feet at work all day long.

I have both the Sole and the Superfeet. The Superfeet take some time to get used to, and you really should not just order them over the internet. The sizing is based, not on shoe size, but on arch location; so you should have a boot fitter get you in some superfeet is you choose to go that route. The Sole are nice because they are custom moldable. This can be done in your home in your oven or your toaster oven (if you happen to have one). If you don't want to heat them up, then simply wearing them will do the trick, over time they will mold to your feet.

All that being said, my go to insoles are the Sole. They have a lower impact/volume one for running. It's got Dean Karnazes on the sole instead of Ed Viesturs. For your size and needs though, I'd recommend the high impact Veisturs model. Superfeet Green or Orange would be a good option for you too, if your arch can handle it. If not, look at Superfeet Blue. Again with Superfeet, sizing is everything so get a boot fitter to do it for you.
