I did a search but not finding what I want to know or old threads.

Never owned a glock before. NIB Gen 4 G22, Im told $575 out the door was a good deal. 25$ more than a gen 3, and comes with the extra mag, plus I like the back straps.

Questions are on the hi cap mags and barrels. I ordered one of the mech tech uppers for it so want some bigger mags. Quick look around and factory 40 mags go to 22, 24 with the extension floor plate. Factory so gonna work right. See mixed reviews on the aftermarket ones. Some swear by the Korean mags others say are junk. Is there any sort of consensus on a higher cap 40 cal mag? Or just stick with factory?

I found an old thread where most seem to say Storm lake barrels went down hill, not worth owning. This still true? Was looking to have a 9mm barrel since I have plenty of it, way more than 40.

Anybody here run cast thru a factory barrel, there seem to be 2 crowds, never do it, and its fine. I have been powder coating bullets lately, figured I would ask to see if that makes a difference in the glock? Well before I go powder coat a bunch.

I have never used the off brand glock mags but have used the glock 33 round mags and they have ran 100%. The cheap mags might be ok for range use but I would not use them for anything that they had to run 100%. I run a threaded stormlake barrel on a glock 19 with an osprey and i love the barrel. Droped right in and shoots better then the factory barrel. Neveer used cast so no help there.

Go with the factory mags and if you want more Capacity look at the Taran Tactical extensions. They are expensive but add 4 or 5 in 40cal. I have a Arendondo which is a plus six plastic extension for the M&P9 and they also make one for glock. I only have about 200rds through that mag but it has been 100% so far. But I wouldn't trust it for serious use due to the plastic. For you that might not be an issue.

Factory mag base plates are plastic too though. I have some Taran's, it was jam city at first but they started working better after loading and emptying a few times.

It's because of the polygonal rifling in stock glock barrels, they foul up with cast bullets. Get a stainless match barrel if you want to run cast.

They are both plastic but the stress points are different. The Mag body is metal reinforced and the base plate is low profile vs the extension. The material is also different. The extension seems to be more brittle than the glock material.

That disturbs me a little about the Tarans.

Stick with the factory mags unless you're just messing around.
None of the rest have been 100% all the time in my experience.

Storm Lake barrels, (1911's) haven't bought one in about 8 months, but that last one was exceptional. It rivaled a Kart for accuracy fitted at the same time.

I wouldn't run powder coated bullets, polygonal rifling or conventional.
Unlike copper plating or similar coating, the powder coating wouldn't give the same reduction in friction or 'leading' as say a nylon coating (Federal Nyclad).

Plus without some serious checking into the composition of the powder coating, it may be more abrasive than other choices.

Another vote for sticking with factory Glock mags. They are 100% reliable.

The Korean extended mags have 2 metal mag bodies molded together. There is a huge amount of plastic flashing on the inside of the mag tube between the 2 metal bodies.

I have a pair of the Korean 9mm 30rd whatever mags and tried to remove that flashing using a flat file with poor results. I would need to invest in a dremmel with a long flexible head to get these things to work.

I bought a Glock 21 back in 1996 or 1997. It was my 1st purchased handgun when I was in college. I put good 1k of re-manufactured 3D brand lead round nose 230grn through it with no problems. Knowing what I know now, I would not do that again, or recommend anyone else do it. Not worth loosing fingers or eye sight to save on the cost of a conventional rifled aftermarket barrel.

I currently have a Lone Wolf conventional rifled barrel for my Glock 30SF. I've only shot a couple mags of factory FMJ through it but so far it is reliable. My goal with that barrel is start reloading again.

Guess just not the demand for glock to make a large mag for 40. 15 in a regular pistol mag isnt bad I guess, get a few more in the 22rd, extended base plate adds a little.

There any extended bases better than others?

Ill try some reloads in the factory barrel, see how they do. They dont okay just used jacketed in the glock. Save the lead for the upper and my 1911 in 40 now that it works right. Still getting my powder coating to work right.

POWDER COAT????? YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND I HOPE YOU HAVE GOOD LIFE INSURANCE. YOU NEED TO LEARN ABOUT THE COEFFICENT OF FRICTION AND THE ADDED PRESSURES FROM THE INCREASED DIAMETER OF THE ROUND!!

DO NOT SHOOT ANYWHERE NEAR ME!!!

Forget the extended base plates, Nationwide all police departments that HAVE a professional Firearms unit forbid these.

I have personally witnessed many Officers that come from agency's that DO NOT HAVE a professional Firearms unit that had many failures of these.

Go to the range and drop your Glock Mag on the concrete with the extended base plate. You will watch the base plate fly off, the base plate retainer fly away, the magazine spring fly away and all your rounds fly out of the Magazine.

Imagine this happening when you are in a fire fight. This is not an unusual occurrence, it happens ALL THE TIME.

Um yea. Might want to do some reading on this. Theres a whole pile of people on castbullets forum, doing powder coating and there havent been any reports of people ending up in the hospital.

By your logic since the military banned pmags for use that must mean their not any good? Ill try an extended and see how I like it, go from there.
