Every day I go to work, this bag goes with me. If I go away from town somewhere, this bag goes with me in the car. I don't travel by plane anymore, so I have no concerns about security checkpoints at airports. Some of the places I travel are a little on the remote side. This is also a work in progress.

Anyway, on with the show. Here's my bag, a High Sierra.

In a side pocket, I keep an LED head lamp and an LED torch.

In the smaller of the two main compartments, I have another LED torch, some Reg Grundies & socks, a container for my GPS unit (Bitchin' Betty (Tom Tom unit) is currently in the car) and a box with some bandaids, cold & flu tablets and pain killers.

In the larger compartment, I have a 10' x 8' plastic tarp, 30 metres of 6mm poly rope, a couple of litre water containers, my first aid kit, another LED torch, and another container with some bits and pieces.















I also carry the baby wipes and the fire kit in yet another compartment, along with another LED torch.

In my car, I have about another 3 torches, another first aid kit, another tarp, about 100m of rope, another fire kit, some cash, a blanket, an umbrella, a cold-weather parka and a sloppy joe.

Car care wise, there's a tool kit, 5 litres of engine oil and 5 litres of engine coolant, as well as a funnel and a rag.

ps...on my out the door to Cherokee NC for flyfishing and a little FTX with this gear, will be out of comms for a couple o days... :thumb:

I like the content & thanks for the ideas, but I see all the plastic tubs and wonder about the space they take away inside a pack? I get that the thought is to be able to easily identify the content, but there's got to be a better way.

After my little GHB ftx this weekend, i have come to the conclusion that i will switch to a med alice ruck, and use small colored stuff sacks for various items and write the contents with a sharpie....

i did not like rummaging thru that three compartments to find/reload stuff and the alice ruck has the main compartment, radio pouch 9if mem serves correct) and three exterio pockets....

easier to keep organized and access items...

This is not in my GHB, but I do have it in my Jeep. Aldi's was selling an inflatable 2 man raft. Yes, it is/was cheap and not the highest quality. But, in my area in order to get home I have to cross a small river. I also live in an area that is way overdue for a major earthquake, the New Madrid Fault. If the bridges are taken out, I want some way to get across that river. I guess what I am saying is look at what you may encounter in order to get home and plan accordingly. Worst case scenario, I work fairly close to the Mississippi and I should be able to get there, from there it is a short float to the smaller river.

Well, we see this type of questions all the time. It’s a very hard thing to give someone else good advice; you know your own situation best.
• What is your setting?
• What is your climate?
• How big are the seasonal variations where you live?
• How far away from your home do you work?
• What kind of scenarios are you trying to prepare for?
• What type of vehicle do you have?
• What do you want your setup to do for you?
