I've done similar grows with global buckets. Mainly tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, and a few other veggies. Works great for apartment balconies.

Another great thing about the 5 gallon buckets, they make great composting containers too. I have 5 in rotation for "emergency patching" in my gardens in the spring and summer, turning over a fresh batch of compost in about 2 weeks.
