Only 2 ingredients were purchased for this meal for 5 and they are pantry staples, salt and olive oil. Fresh pesto marinated chicken thighs from my farm. Swiss chard and shallots from the garden. Red and white potatoes, bartered a dozen eggs for. Heirloom tomato and Siam queen basil garnish form the garden. We figured this cost pennies to feed a family of 5. Not bad eh?

Impressive! I like the looks of that meal.

Here in the South, the old folks wouldn't say they "purchased" certain commodities. The term they used was that they were "brought on." As in, "The coffee and sugar were not raised on the place. They were brought on."

Thanks everyone! It has taken me years of hard work to get to this point of sufficiency. Not as gourmet tonight just a veggie stirfry lol.
