So I'm experiencing what it's like to be sick from wild game food poisoning. No laughing matter, and it feels like having Hep A. I need one toilet for the runs and another to vomit. It has been going its course for for three days. I still have the runs, but vicadin 500mg is causing constipation and pain relief. :xeye:

Never eat wild game that is dated more than one year in the freezer. Several of us at the homeless shelter got sick.

Salmonella can survive for weeks outside a living body. They have been found in dried excrement after over 2.5 years.

Salmonella will die after being heated to 131 °F for one hour, or to 140 °F for half an hour.

To protect against Salmonella infection, food must be cooked.

Salmonella is not destroyed by freezing.

I've never gotten sick from eating wild game, no matter how long it was in the freezer.
I've often gotten sick from eating improperly cooked food, no matter where it came from.
You're sickness is clearly from improperly cooked food, not because it's game meat nor because it was in the freezer too long.
Sorry you and the others got sick. I hope you recover quickly.

Maybe you've just got Hepatitis A. ? ? ?

I'm picturing someone at your shelter who doesn't wash his hands after crapping and then improperly prepares your food.

Where the heck did you get vicodin?

Have to agree, The only way this could happen is if the freezer was turned off due to a power cut or somebody being dumb then turning it back on after the food had semi thawed or thawed.
Then the food would become a bacteria heaven during the defrost time.

Or the person preparing the food was sick

Or the food was not cooked correctly// not being thawed correctly then cooked and still cold/frozen in the middle.
