[Oibrigand]

A few years ago I bought a firestarter kit. It's a small leather pack that contains waterproof matches, a flint, magnesium powder, but it also had a small jar of liquid inside. I have no idea what this is and I was wondering if any of you would tell me what it is. It smells exactly like rubbing alcohol, and obviously I'm assuming it is quite flammable but I haven't lit any up yet... I did a few google searches and can't seem to come up with much.

Anyone?

Could be some type of liquid petroleum such as meths or an alcohol based gell.
Best thing is to post a pic of the stuff with a pic of the container. If the liquid is red or pink chances its some sort of methylated spirits, surprised it has not evaporated by now.

Yah I bought it probably 4 years ago, I was suprised it was still intact too. I think the guy I bought it from did say it was some sort of petroleum based substance, I'm not sure how much good that would do me, I would rather just use the magnesium because I'm used to working with it.
