Look up your town or county ordinances. If it's not banned then you will probably have to get a permit.

No outdoor fires in Mass. I just moved from there. That's why I moved. Too many controlling, stupid rules. You might be able to get a permit in spring but I think they'd rather you pay to fill up another landfill.

Are you asking this question because you got in trouble lighting a fire somewhere? I live in Michigan, and you're not supposed to light fires in my country without a permit. Having bonfires in your front yard is part of the culture here, so noone bothers to get permits, and the law enforcement doesn't care.

Ok Bru, I understand what Mass is now, did not understand your abreviation for your county. ... sorry
Maybe upper case for names would help people from other worlds.
