As a part of my green house I am making a solar distillery so that I do not have to introduce contaminated water to my garden .

I hope you'll share this with us when you get it up and running. I'm fascinated by these. I've tried it once on the beach trying to distill sea water. My result was really dissapointing.

Awesome!

You gotta post pics or video or it didn't happen dude :D:. If you decide to add activated charcoal, the pet stores typically have that in half gallon milk cartons for like $10-$15. Today at the pet store I even saw something that may have been a Zeolite/ activated charcoal mixture in half gallon milk cartons. The ingredient list didn't say what the ammonia absorber was.

I've been thinking of doing something similar using a ceramic aquarium air stone as the final filtering stage after the Zeolite.
Ceramic aquarium air stones are pretty tight. Check out the flow rate in this example:
I was in a pet store the other day checking out the Zeolite/ activated charcoal mixture also. A concern of mine is that the pet store charcoal is from coal. I don't know where to get similar size safe charcoal. Does anyone else know?

I have heard yes and no on reverse osmosis. Apparently it doesn't get rid of all the radiation. I have finally decided on building my own slow sand filter using zeolite. I would also like to add activated charcoal, but I have heard the pet store kind is from tar and not safe. Does anyone know where to get the safe kind?

You can buy activated charcoal at most Walgreens, CVS, maybe even Walmart in the over the counter medicine area. Pretty sure I've seen it at Walmart.

It aint good to use pvc pipe for any kind of water filtration system. The sides are to smooth and the nasties will slip between the filter media and the smooth sides. It is called short circuiting. I work at a water plant. You need rough sides to make a water filter.
