What does everyone use to fight the common cold if they get it, or a family member does?

For example, when I am sick, I take astragalus pills, fish oil pills, I drink tea, use Vicks Chest Rub if my throat hurts, and I take Zinc tablets, etc.

Avoiding them by frequent hand washings.
If you wash your hands too often it can cause skin problems as well as weaken your immune system.

If I get down I fast on a combination of lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne till its gone, usually not longer than three days
I don't get them, I avoid foods that are mucus forming and cause the condition. The "cold bug" simply proliferates in the environment we have created for it and is deemed the culprit and usually exacerbated by poor nutrition.
That's why it's never been cured it's not a bug but a reflection of a state of health.
So lots of water a truly healthy diet a supplement or two and I never get sick. Come to think of it I only was my hands when they need it.

Vitamin C, since all colds are different you need to boost your good old immune system and let it fight the battle for you.
I never get colds, but when people around me do, I dose them with elderberry and oregano oil, and make them steam their heads with a few drops of lavender and eucalyptus oil, or red cedar oil, in the water. They are invariably better the next morning.

I don't have any remedies for a cold, but to treat the symptoms I use hot lemonade with honey and a teaspoon of Everclear, and peppermint candy. Makes me feel a lot better while the body takes care of the infection.

I also use Chloroseptic lozenges and throat spray and Night Quill if I have it available.

Taking stuff that has elderberry in it helps fight off a cold when you are first getting sick
I found this helps,

Boil some water,

Make some tea,

Add a half a shot of whiskey,

Add Some Honey,

Add Some Lemon Juice,

Add Two Crushed Peppermint Candies,

Then Give It All A Good Stir.

Tip A few of these back and I always tend to feel a lot better

Three fingers of a fine single malt whiskey. Then go to bed.

Not much medicinal value, but afterwords a cold doesn't feel as bad. :thumb:

What amounts of the lemon juice, syrup, and cayenne do you use?
Horehound throat lozenges, chicken soup with garlic and pepper, gatorade and lots of other fluids. Ive used baking soda as a mouth wash for sore gums as my gingivitus usually flares up before I get sick and it has helped for strep throat as a gargle for me at least. I also used apple cider vinegar when stomach viruses occur and havent had it in years.
I use homemade chicken soup made with chicken leg quarters. Soup made with the breast do not work. You can add any veggies you want, I use carrots, onions, potato, sometimes mushrooms, and celery. The healing ingredient is in the chicken bone. Add chicken veggies and water and cook on medium high for about a half hour, then take the chicken leg out and remove the meat from the bone, and dice it up and return all to the soup for another 15-30 minutes. You can add noodles if you want.

It's all to taste, you want a good strong lemon aide with just a touch of cayenne.
Too strong and you make it hard to drink.

I may use 1/2- 1 lemon per glass then just enough maple syrup to get it the way I like it. As far as the pepper, it just depend on the day sometimes I like it hot. Start with a tiny amount for the first glass. Don't go putting more in till you go through a whole glass. The heat builds and you can't take it out once you put it in.
It is really really important to drink plenty of water as well. You can get dehydrated quick just drinking the blend.
I had that experience and I got to feeling crappy, as soon as I started drinking water It went away.
Do a search on the master cleanse this is just a part of it.
Good luck.

Thats a big 10-4. The cold feels good until you wake up the next morning.

Once I feel a cold coming on I eat a quart of Roast Pork Yat Ga Mein, from the Chinese restaurant. It always clears my head, but maybe my head gets clear from putting it over a quart of soup for 20 minutes.
Whenever I feel one coming on I break out the horseradish and eat two or three spoonfuls a couple times a day. The hotter the better. It instantly clears the sinuses and (for me at least) seems to chase off any bugs before they can take hold and make me sick.
there is no cure for the common cold. if i get it, i will use western medicine to help with the symptoms. Then I just wait the 7 days, like everyone else, untill its over.
