You chose to put Disney in parenthesis, and not American. Just to save the mods some time' I'll skip the adjective I had in mind and cut right to the point.
In my mind, Walt was a flippin' saint. I consider myself an artist, and that man was the epitome of artistic success.
Now, the Disney corporation... I see in disney Corp the worst excesses of American corpratism and consumption. As for references, I can't copy and paste with this phone, so I will put search terms in quotes below for every citation, just hit google and add the word Disney to the term in quotes.
"sweatshops" Disney factories have repeatedly been caugt utilizing child labor at rates around seventeen cents a day to produce plush animals that retail for $30 a piece, and which are then marketed to children. Children making toys for each other is somehow lovable. Poor children making toys for wealthy children to line the pockets of rich stockholders is grusome, and I'm sure walt would agree!
"copyright lobby" Disney has relentlessly spent vast resources and legal effort to alter American copyright law, removing works such as "Cinderella" from the public domain, and turning a legal framework that was once meant to protect artistic creation, into a stifling litigious nightmare that has seen "Disney shutting down children's fan pages for copyright infringement. this corporate restructuring of copyright is "destroying the creative commons".
"sexual imagery" Disney treats it's animators like dirt. It is a common practice for some unknown artist to slip sexual imageryinto the movies. The situation that caused" the Little mermaid original case art" to be redesigned was the most well known occurrance, as video store clerks across the country started selling their$2 used copies on eBay for a few hundred dollars. "sex in smoke" and random "nipples" got some attention as well among obssesive DVD freeze framers.
"outsourcing" Disneys outsourcing and Use of overseas sweatshops has allowed them to ship us jobs to Vietnam, Indonesia, India and china, not to produce cheap plastic crap, but to sell expensive plasic crap that costs less than a dollar to produce, but which retail for ridiculously high mark up. Meainwhile, "Eisner's CEO pay" is top of the charts in "Worker disparity".
Any doubts? Just google any of the above terms and include the word Disney. While your at it, try "conceals deaths" "crushes workers head" or "sues children"...
F### Disney.
