I've kinda done a weird variation of this. My goof-ball scenario is that I get one shopping cart at the Wal-mart across from the airport here. I can fill it with whatever i'd need to survive on a desert island for a year, but it has to fit in/on the cart so that I could push it the 1/2 mile to the airport terminal.
I've gone through this numerous time on long road trips, just for ****'s and giggles.
I'd start at the counter, grabbing several BIC lighters, then on to the pharmacy section, for Neosporin, tootbrushes, sunscreen, aspirin, bandages, soap, etc.
Then on to sporting goods for a stainless Marlin Model 60 .22 and ammo, plus several knives, ax, ponchos, magnesium firestarters, bug juice, tarp, all kinds of fishing gear, mask and fins, various water containers,back-pack,etc.
There's a lot of fine tuning, like taking things out of the packages and putting them in small water-proof containers found in the Tupperware/Rubbermaid section.
You get the idea.......it passes the time better than counting mailboxes, and helps put into perspective what's really important, and what's simply a luxury.
