I hate social media and refuse to own a cell phone. It didn't affect my job prospects at all, where I work social media like Facebook are considered security threats and blocked by our IT department from agency systems.

We want people that will keep their mouth shut and not have to tweet every second of their life to total strangers.

The employers, psychologists, and facebook especially can KMA. The only thing suspicious is the retarded logic behind thinking facebook means more than what I flushed the day before.
"More bosses demand access to private Facebook accounts (passwords)

Also be aware that facebook saves every version of the content of your page. Every time you delete or edit text, photos, ect it's saved.

Facebook also tracks other websites you use through in whichever browser you use facebook.

Thankfully i have the skills and freedom to choose my employer if i so choose to have one.
Unfortunately, not so many Americans are so fortunate these days. I have two working kids and though secure, I've heard my share of horror stories. Most are thankful for just having A job.

Social media is overused. I embrace technology and understand the advantages of posting notices in one place for your group to see. It sure beats a round of phone calls like I used to do when coaching soccer.

However, sites like Facebook tend to invite drama and petty crap that renders its advantages useless. That, Twitter, and texting may be part of the reason today's younger generation can't compose a properly written paragraph with correct spelling - much less a complete paper.

To them, communication is a series of 5 second blurbs. No wonder they can't carry on an intelligent conversation that requires thought and analysis.

Our educational system has concentrated so much on pushing Socialism that they dropped teaching in favor of indoctrination.

More employers are requiring that you pass not just a background check (sometimes with a polygraph) or a drug test (sometimes requiring hair follicle DNA) or asking you to voluntarily give up your right to freedom of speech (by signing a gag order, agreeing not to speak to anyone about company policy while you work there) but now you must also have a good credit score to get a job - is anyone really surprised they would also be considering your social media life (or lack of it) as well? It may be against the law to ask someone in an interview about their politics, religion or sexual preferences but as we are seeing, there is more than one way to get around the rules.

I've fired a few folks for using social media on the job, but have never asked for access to their fantasy world junk for hiring purposes.
The odd thing is that each and everyone who got canned, was quite offended as to the reason why.
Even tho it was throughly explained to them from the get-go.

Not my business what they think they are online, only that they do their job properly and don't waste time on social media while working their shift.

Personally I think all the things listed constitute a Violation of the 4th Amendment. It is STILL a "Search" regardless if it is used for prosecution of crimes or not. This is the part that makes me believe this to be the case...

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated,"

Nowhere does it mention by Whom, it is meant that we are free from this violation of privacy.
