Yes, there are solar AA battery chargers.

As for lights, I like led lights, and hand crank lights. I have several hand crank lights and a hand crank lantern.

There are many options for solar recharging batteries. Years back I picked up several compact solar chargers that'll do AA, C, D, 9v, and "prismatic" batteries, whatever those are. It has a meter to give you an idea of sun strength too.

Later on I picked up a small panel with multiple voltage taps and battery holders that'll do the same, only quicker, plus be able to power small devices.

This was years ago, so I'm sure there are a lot of better products than what I have.

Take a look in folk's front yards. All those little lights that are around the house and sidewalks, most are solar rechargables. Some are AA some are button batteries. Go check out walmart or home depot in the lawn care. I got ALOT of ideas that I put to use from there. You can buy a cheap yard light, tear it apart, make something to suit you. I have had fun with them.
