I have to pick one up for a job tomorrow (courtesy of my employer). I can pick it up on my credit card and expense it. Is there any tool I can get that will do this job well, but also hold onto for my own use for outdoors? It needs to pierce the drywall, so it can't be a Gerber saw. Thanks guys!

Probably too late for your needs but...

Reciprocating Saw Blade with a Handle.

That way you can change blades to whatever you want. They make blades from several inches to nearly a foot. Don't know how well it works for drywall but I keep a handle with my saw.

Snap-On made a very good blade handle. Best I've seen. It has a locking pin just like the saw does.

I also have a Stanley handle and I had to modify it so the blade would stay put. It has no pin to go in the blade hole. Nothing but friction to hold the blade in and it sucked until I drilled and tapped for a screw right where the hole in the blade is.
