Just wanted to check and see what y'all thought about the Drager M65 mask. It comes with a new NBC 40mm NATO filter.

I used to own an Israeli mask but sold it a few years back as well as my M17 mask.

I'm basically looking for 2 good adult masks that accept NATO filters for my wife and I. I'll likely be purchasing a child's Israeli mask for my son.

We are in the process of hedging our bets against an Ebola Pandemic or one of the other "mystery" illnesses floating around, and reliable masks with NBC filters is the first step.

If 4-5 more unknown mystery cases of Ebola spring up then we will double down and go into full overdrive as we stock up.

Hi. I have no personal experience with that mask, but looking at the description and reviews, I would steer clear of them... looks like they would have outdated filters and may or may not be used/abused. If you are going to go the surplus route, try to find a good M40 mask on ebay or something. They are being phased out of our military and usually can be found in pretty nice shape. Also, spare gaskets and valves are widely available for them. Filters are 40mm as well. A nice m40 will likely cost you more, but will be a far better mask and your health is worth the extra money.

There are also 'civilian' masks out there made by companies like MSA, Scott and 3M that will be good as well. Draeger makes good products, but those masks you posted are probably going to be a crap-shoot and spare parts might not be available if needed.

I also owned israeli gas masks and sold them. So looking into a cheap alternative to fill the role for tear gas etc. I bought 2 german m65 gas masks, they fit and work as should they hold a seal just fine. Just keep in mind in a real NBC threat the soldier or in this case you are not meant to survive it only live long enough to complete the mission. In hot weather an nbc suit and mask will kill you through dehydration alone...

hey so i have the m65 great mask but does anybody know of any good filiters or where to get any

Any 40mm threaded cartridge will fit. Beyond that, you need to determine what type and level of protection you need before you purchase. This requires time and research.

Canisters are available from approvedgasmasks.com, Grainger, or any other safety supply company. These are not endorsements. Expect to pay anywhere from $40 to $120 each for unexpired 5-10 year shelf-life canisters from reputable manufacturers. "Reputable" means Avon, Mestel, Scott, MSA, 3M, etc... Surplus filters are usually out of date or will soon be out of date. Steer clear of them. Also make sure the mask seals properly and you can move around without breaking the mask seal. It would also benefit you to study up on CBRN so you understand how, when, why, and where a mask will protect you and when it won't.

do anyone has any links or sizing charts for the M65? Ain't so sure since I'm collecting Russian gas masks and it use the number sizing system (ex:size 1,2,3,4). Confused since some claim NATO masks use same sizing system but others claimed that it uses the "Hat Size" system.
