I was just watching a story on the tea party movement on NBC and thought to myself "What a joke!" I'm a registered Libertarian and believe in similar ideas as the tea party, but I just don't believe they can be taken seriously. Plus with all the neocon support, that deters any former Democrat now Independent from joining.

Agreed that organized dissention of the size harnessed by media is a false flag, likely to do no more than innoculate participating patriots against real action to restore the Republic.

Such action will be revolutionary or silent. The next nation to bear our founding documents will be led by revolutionaries, as were our forefathers.

Depends if we are talking the National Amalgamation that's been conscripted and co-opted by Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Sean Hannity, etc or if we are talking about the local movements that continue to be true grassroots initiatives of the people. Frankly I think that the people in charge of these things need to do what our local TEA party group has done and that is to refuse to allow the rallies to be led by or controlled by any politician. I get sick of hearing from the talking heads who have nothing but platitudes to lay on the table. I think the important thing is that people are no longer afraid to talk politics and that people are honestly trying to inform themselves. At least, some people are.

To be honest 10 yrs ago or more many said the same of the Libertarian party. It seemed at the time, that people stated the party attracted the more people from the "left" and borderline anarchists more than "right" or "center".

And as Steverino stated...any form of question the goverment is a good thing...these people are Public Servants...NOT masters as they tend to believe.

maybe in some of the more liberal controlled areas where there are political dogs that sell out you and I...but in a good many places the movement is actually a very strong and fast growing ideology...that garners a huge variety of folks from all sides of that aisle...

they are a force to be recconed with.... and sooner than later... and the turn coats in the district of criminals knows it and they are starting to run scared... and they damn well better...

I agree with you. The Tea Party is for * Fiscal Responsibility * Constitutionally Limited Government * Free Markets. The Government is taking more and more of our liberties away from us.

I'm with the OP. To call it a tea party while groveling at city hall for a permit just seems stupid to me. Let's look at the real Boston tea party. For that day and age, those actions could be considered domestic terrorism. Hardly similar if you ask me.

Now, I'm not crapping on the Tea Party folks. I'm all for free speech and I do agree with most of thier message. I just think it's a bit of a stretch for anybody to compare these modern day protests to what took place in Boston over 200 years ago. I do hope these tea party folks succeed at making non-violent political changes as it would prevent the war many of us are preparing for.

Actually, all of the people I've met who have shared with me that they have attended tea party events, are all well-educated, middle class people who are tired of the direction this administration is leading the nation - higher taxes, higher unemployment, loss of freedoms/the inexorable march towards socialism...

They are people I would describe as decent, hard working, salt of the earth Americans... the type who built and continue to build our country despite all of the impediments placed in their way.

I just can't understand the hate-on for Sarah Palin that some people harbor (especially here).
She got involved in local politics,and moved up to Governor,and had an outrageously high poll rating in her state.
She is PRO-hunting,PRO 2nd amendament/firearm ownership, PRO fiscal responsibility.

If the average American ( or citizen of the World) is asked about Palin, they'll likely quote something from Saturday Night Live that she never even said.
The biggest rational argument against her seems to be her "lack of experience", yet I think her gubernatorial experience trumps Obama's senatorial experience and record of "present" votes.
Who the hell else you gonna vote for?? Mitt F-ing Romney ????
I think the best thing that could have happened for this country in the last 50 years would have been for McCain to have won the last election, then had the pandering,self-serving, back-stabbing hypocrite keel over from a heart attack six months later, leaving Palin in the White House.
The Tea Party movement is the ONLY reassuring thing I see in politics today.

I am not impressed she resigned as Governor. On the other hand she could have kept the job and spent all her time flying around playing politics like all the other politicians. I would suppose it is more honest to quit the job than take the pay like others have while they campaigned.
