Sometimes referred to specifically as a Keffiyeh but now it seems (at least to the military personnel that are coming back from theater) this type of scarf is almost universally referred to as a "Shemagh".
It is great for keeping the sun, wind and dirt off your neck and out of your shirt.
In the cooler climate it keeps you warm.
And if you get the right pattern it will help with camouflage.
I carry two in my BOB, one OD green with a black pattern and the other khaki with a black pattern.
Any one else wear these or use them as a towel or other camping / survival type of equipment? Or do you think it reminds you too much of what you think a terrorist might look like?
