These things, that you can get for about $18, are they good? They have a 2 stage process. Anyone have and tried one and like them? I'm wondering can they sharpen D2 steel as well as stainless blades.

Works quite well for a rough shaving edge, and is more rugged in a pack than stones are.

ive got a diamond stone and steel for honing. and they are the best ive ever had.


they wont wear grooves, rust proof, can use water to lubricate, and a lot lighter than a traditional stone.

do your research and find the best one you can it will be with you for a lifetime.

ive been using them during my cooking career and never look back

I have a few sizes, and they produce a keen edge very fast. Since they constantly expose new diamond grit, the sharpening process doesn't lag. I have had good results on most all types of steel, and have bot had to replace one yet. I do like to take a few passes over a ceramic rod if I am looking for a razor edge.
