Urban preppers, has this defund the police social experiment affected your prepping plans?

No police
No law and order
No arrest
No threat of arrest

What will the police be replaced with? Maybe social workers who are trained to deescalate situations. Perhaps mutual aid agreements where your neighbors are suppose to come to your aid. Then again, how many of the progressive left own guns and will be any real help? A lot of these anarchist and socialist want an anarchy society based on teachings from the 1800s by people such as Peter Kropotkin.

I live around an hours drive from the nearest city of 100,000 people so I am not too worried about this defund the police movement. Living in a rural area just about everyone understands if you come onto someones property and threaten them, chances are you are going to get shot. Perhaps this same mindset needs to get enforced in urban areas. Then again, progressives have been working for decades to disarm their voting base.

Anyone that assumed the police would be effective in a serious situation was foolish. WROL is a reality once the SHTF hard enough.

The idea of doing away with the police is STUPID, they are asking for a return to vigilante justice and the Wild West....in an area where people rub each other the wrong way on a daily basis, and there’s no wide open spaces to avoid each other.

Honestly...if you can’t call the police, what other option do you have when people are openly breaking the law or violating your rights, besides arming up and shooting first?

Nope because I live in a city now and i've always prepped for this instance tbh. Being urban for me is kind of universal prepping based on earthquake & civil unrest anything else is just gravy. I have a small garden (space issues) , water tank/gas/food storage. Also have a waterBob for last resort. Of course I have those other things you need that most of us have that make noise :thumb:

in history the governments that have defunded police typically put their own private jacked booted thug police force into place. The Nazi SS comes to mind after a campaign to disarm the citizens then they defunded the police and put in their own police force.

though not to likely to happen here with all the pro gun citizens and private militias at least not this early though i could be wrong.

I was watching a YouTube video last night about the LA Riots in ‘92. Specific to my interest was the fact that the police all but abandoned Koreatown which led to the actions of the Rooftop Koreans heavily defending themselves and their businesses.

It proved the point that when shiz gets serious, police just don’t turn up, defunded or not.

I actually don't live in the city of Mpls, so it hasn't affected me that much. But I certainly don't plan to move anytime soon. It does look like the Republicans locally are blocking a lot of the new legislation people are trying to get through. We will see what happens.

I live on the farthernmost outskirts of a small city.

It would be impossible to reach my house and not pass HUNDREDS of houses that are peopled with armed citizens.

I dare say that I actually live in a safer zone that those in the hinterlands.

As to attack such numbers as we represent would be suicide = period.

Defund the police to an extent that there are no longer officers able [ and willing ] to respond to attack calls, would mean home owners would have to handle the situation.

As a retired cop,I know for a fact that most gun owners will shoot first and ask later.

As wrong as that is,if all you have is a hammer, then all problems look like a nail.

If you get my drift.

anyone with any criminal inklings is currently stewing into intent … and it grows and grows, so - it isn't a good thing as crime and violent crime is exploding and if Dems get elected anywhere will continue to explode in those locations. They've become the party of violent crime … not sure how that is a winning platform, but they seem committed to it.

The poll that caught my eye last week or so, was very telling.

58% supported using National Guard or Military to stop rioting and Looting.

81% Supported Law and Order.

After that poll came out, the House and Senate Dems who were jumping on the "Defund the Police" bandwagon started walking backwards, away from it.
Radicals are still chanting 'Defund the Police' , but, in actuality, if you listen closely, it's morphing into "Better Policing".

Typical politics, before it's over, the Police will get more funding (for all this new training).

Everyone is watching the changes NY recently made, and is watching Seattle, Atlanta and Minneapolis.

Ask the Mayor of Olympia, WA what she thinks about Defunding Police and how to deal with Rioters and Looters? She was a Lefty who got her personal residence vandalized. Let's see if she Defunds Olympia's police department?

Even the liberals aren't talking about defunding HPD or Harris County.

I try to be out early that is just good common sense.

Original Post / Trolling Alert.

Police do not protect individualist prepper types; by and large, police protect designated protected groups. Go ahead, change my mind...
You don't know what you don't know. So here I am walking down the street with my lucky red undies and I don't get attacked or mugged or anything.

Which only proves the defensive power of my undies. And why we really don't need police.

Of course I am not factoring in that without the police i would get attacked and my undies would be pretty much useless.

Or why anecdotal evidence is generally not very reliable.

Well, our HOA pays for a little extra attention from the police, I see them setting speed traps all the time. One big mouth in our neighborhood goes to all the HOA meetings complaining about people speeding.

They do, but it's a through street, that's what they do. Live on a cul de sac if you don't want people racing past your home.

If there was no police at all in a city, I think eventually people would go back to some sort of system like the "wild west" . They would elect the best shot with the most guns and followers as the new sheriff and pay him to protect them and their stuff.
There has always been some sort of law enforcement and laws since the stone ages and large amounts of people lived in one place.
It just might no longer be the law of the U.S. as is now, but whatever the people that run the city and pay the new sheriff want. Might end up being a good thing. It might cut out the lawyers

Where I lived, and the place I’m moving to, both are basically enforced by The county sheriff office, so they are pretty safe. We’re pretty “I am 911” out here. So I’ll pretty much just roll like I have been. I might lay up some extra 12 gauge, and some dog food. But that’s about it.

The question I ask, is defunding the same as disbanding? What exactly do they mean by defunding, are they talking about defunding entire departments or defunding some aspects of a department. Say they decide to continue funding patrol, but defund crime task groups and response units aka SWAT.

I suspect part of this defund movement started with an objection to no knock policies and snow balled from there.

Some people really do mean defund. The vast majority mean move roles that dont require armed intervention out of the police.

In essence what they are saying is that people trained in tactics and that are armed have a mentality that is unsuitable/unecessary for most of the jobs that the police do.

1) writing tickets
2) investigation after a crime
3) dealing with the homeless/addicts etc
etc

Treat the police like firemen, have them called when a violent crime is in progress. Otherwise send specialists that are not armed.
