Cuba is rationing food and consumer goods (again)

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...o-economic-crisis-u-s-sanctions-idUSKCN1SG2HA

***Communist-run Cuba said on Friday it would control more the sales of certain foodstuff and hygiene products, including adding some back to the ration card, due to shortages that it blamed partly on the tightening of the U.S. trade embargo.
Shop shelves on the Caribbean’s largest island have been increasingly empty of late with scarcity of basic products such as eggs, flour and chicken, and massive, hours-long queues for them whenever they come into stock.

Cubans have been flooding social media with photos of the queues they are in, under the hashtag #lacolachallenge (queue challenge) to highlight the problem.***

hm, wonder how long before Il Gobernmente shuts social media down?

and this (socialism) is what Bernie, Ocasio, etc etc want to bring to the US.

so glad I live in this country.

wish they could implement a regime change but don't see it happening.
the Castros were idiots but they were smart enough to turn the education system into indoctrination central so now in the second - third generation of loyal party sheeple.

communism and socialism have never worked in any country in the history of the world.

its just not a good plan. [AGREED]

free market capitalism has driven our country to be the greatest country ever known. [Before 1933]

ill stick with what works.
But but but - the USA has been socialist since 1933 !
They just didn't change the title to the People's Democratic Socialist Republic.
When government can TAKE from one to GIVE to another, that abolished private property (which requires just compensation for taking).

* No constitutional money * No endowed rights * No private property * Full compliance with the ten planks of the communist manifesto * by your consent *

War and Emergency Powers Acts
"A majority of the people of the United States have lived all of their lives under emergency rule. For 40 years (as of the report 1933-1973), freedoms and governmental procedures guaranteed by the Constitution have, in varying degrees, been abridged by laws brought into force by states of national emergency."
FREEDOMS ... GUARANTEED BY THE CONSTITUTION ... HAVE BEEN ABRIDGED BY LAWS ... UNDER EMERGENCY RULE ...

Loyal party sheeple? Park an aircraft carrier in any harbor in Cuba with a "Free Trips to the US" sign and it would be full in an hour. The Cubans love the US, they just don't want to revert to being our cat house.
If we completely opened Cuba to tourism and investment, they'd spend millions buying our goods and services. Give it a couple of decades and it'll be the Chinese who are selling to the Cubans.
Only reason we still treat Cuba like an enemy is that Florida is full of Rubios who believe that they'll get the family sugar plantation back eventually, complete with serfs to work it.
The US would be better off if we gave the vote to felons and took it away from Cuban expats and two or three generations of their git get.

Something is not right about this report. Eggs, flour, and chicken would be local products, not imports subject to an embargo.

they can't grow enough local foods
so they have to import more basics
and they don't want to spend the $ on feeding its populace
buying weapons and deploying troops to Venezuela instead
(of course they're probably stealing some of their oil so they get some of their investment back)

Most in Cuba who raise chickens & have eggs, feed themselves 1st, surplus gets sold or bartered to friends or neighbors, not supermarkets. Almost no commercial wheat fields or grain growers in Cuba. The inefficient agricultural industry in Cuba now forces them to import about 70–80% of all the food its people consume

We? Cuba is an independent, allegedly grown up nation, not the pawn of the U.S. The 60 year old Castro government sets the terms for economic investment with foreign nations.

Cuba has to open itself entirely to tourism and investment. That means accept contract law and rule of law guaranteeing investment and investment returns for stock holders. That means changing their antiquated 1950's Stalin era economic system. That means getting rid of Castro corruption. That means accepting international banking standards. That means getting rid of currency manipulation and accepting international exchange rates. That means getting rid of their two tier system of economics - one for visitors and another for the poor citizens. That means allowing the market to determine the value of property, land and citizen's labor.

Why would anyone hand over billions to the Castro crime family if they're just going to nationalize it next week?

Obama try to open cubans to USA business but crazy trump did away with that idea, cubans have always loved the USA they even help George Washington during the revolution,Miami Fl was a cow town with the cuban influx is a great metropolitan city that has open the doors for more business with Central and South America to include the Iberica Republic.Russian auto parts going to Cuba,Home Depot,Walmart, etc. From the Port of Miami to the Airport goods are ship daily, only this government stands in the way and is not communism because we deal with the biggest dictatorships in the World;China and Russia, total hypocrisy in my point of view.

I'm surprised China hasn't brought in a lot of aid, as Cuba is going to become a base of operation for China's oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.
