I save up copper. We had an enormous job at work years ago, it was almost all copper and we had thin sheets and some full sheets of 1" thick copper. It was a cryogenic job and lasted for months. Just about everyone took home the scraps in their lunch pails. Now I save leftover plumbing pieces and it adds up. I garbage pick any I see in my travels.

Car batteries used to be great when we did our battery changes at home. Now I rarely see one, but will grab any I see by the curb. It may have been around 1979, lead was fetching good money. I was towing cars so batteries were everywhere. We saved them up until we had 30 to 40 of them and go to Brooklyn to get $7 each for them. Local yards were paying $5 at the time.

I’ve been saving copper for a long time.
I sold it all in about 2011 and started again.
I don’t have to potential to gather what used to. I’ve hauled as much as 1.500 lbs in one trip.
I’m more interested in investing in smaller companies that are not over leveraged or located in some politically unstable country.
These copper investments might be gold miners. The elements are often found together.

Doing HVAC I swap out a lot of copper freon linesets and also scrap all my old a/c units for the copper Long time age we would get $5.25 for clean #1 and $4.75 for dirty #2 Now days you'd be lucky to get $3.00 for clean #1 but I still save it for a year then hual it all in for prep money
For those of you looking to invest in copper I can say the price of freon lines and electrical wire has doubled in the last few years and they are predicting more price increases as the years go forward.

Copper prices are a leading indicator of economic health. Virtually every economist is predicting a recession in the coming year. One that may last a while and be worldwide, possibly even a long-lasting depression. Copper prices are down off their highs but still 50% higher than a couple of years ago. I'd wait a while before buying...
