Well they are not very expensive, think around 20 dollar. 12 is kinda cheap, is it 2nd hand? Well it's not impossible but be aware because there is CS knockoff out there. However I don't see why anybody would want to make a knockoff of a 20 dollar machete.

on the ebay store they are 10...

on cold steels site, they average 15 id say..without the sheath. 25 with sheath

even at 20...thats cheap....im guessing they dont come sharpened, the metal is thinner and the handle a lower quality vs. their higher end stuff....

but still....10-20 bucks....damn cheap...

Trailmasters are still made in Japan I believe.

I had one for a while but I was a little disturbed at how easy the blade rusted.

The BK9 is a good knife for far less $ and they come with a great sheath.

Watch the gun shows for a Trailmaster. I see them now and again.

hey guys....

i just got my CS recon scout today.....

it came pretty sharp. but upon close inspection, the knife edge is tad rough, and looks like it could use a little "fine tuning"....or de-burring ( i think thats what its called)

should i maybe use leather? i know its better to practice on a cheap or junk knife, especially if you have never sharpened a knife before( like me ), but it seems like i cant do much harm with just some leather.

I was planning on doing some research before i did anything, but i thought i would run it by you guys first.

thanks.
