I agree I have a sub compact .40 and a service 9mm. These are really easy to use, very reliable, and readily available.

I suggest to learn to use the normal right hand pistols/rifles because that is what you are most likely going to come across. A lot of pistols come with ambi. safetys and mag releases, so its not that big of a deal the only thing that is hard to use is the slide release, because that is normally not ambi. Im left handed also so I know what your going through.
