Seems my chickens have an appetite for yaupon holly leaves.

My wife and I moved the chicken coop close to a fence line. After the coop was moved, I noticed they were spending a lot of time in a certain corner of the coop. This corner is opposite the corner they stayed in before the move.

So what were the chickens doing in the corner, they were eating the leaves off a yaupon holly that was up against the coop.

Just to be curious, I broke a small limb off the yaupon holly, tossed it into the coop and the chickens went crazy on those leaves.

Humm, ok, seems the chickens have a natural snack growing all over the place and I did not know it.

They should love the berries as well. While poisonous to humans they are a wonderful treat for birds.
