Fire bomb......inside of bottle........gas and acid

outside of bottle..... sugar and potaciun nitrate

Lounch bottle and when bottle breaks everything will mix and ignite the gas.

potassium permanganate and GLYCERIN will create fire.

thanks ponce, but what I'm asking about was something that Les Stroud used in a survivor man episode to start a fire with. it looked like a useful thing to know about and maybe even keep in the bob.

have you ever started a fire with it? is it something to try?

never done it...I found it interesting, and good to know, but it seems McGyver is the only guy to run into a need for fire and find himself in a chemical supply house. Well, him and Les...he claims they are common first aid kit ingredients, but I swear to G I've NEVER seen them outside of chemistry class. Glycerin CAN be used for GI problems, and KMnO4 IS used as an antiseptic to treat wounds and water...BUT I'd rather use bactine or neosporin!
I'll save my Vaseline soaked cotton balls, magnesium block and fire steel to get a fire going!

glycerine is a common enough ingredient, but Idunno if it exists in large enough quantities

Still say a match and some dry pine needles work better then a chemical reaction that could go off if you fall and a couple container breaks in your kit and reacts.

And you can probably go down to your local farm CO-OP, ranch supply place, or anywhere that sells veterinary or horse-related supplies and get it the same way.

You don't really need much for the firestarting reaction, though, and can find small bottles at many drug stores.

glycerin is a component of brake fluid.

Brake fluid plus pool chlorine tablets will also start a fire.

To everyone.............take now of what is being said because someday you may have to use it.........base on what is being said you could make different types of explosives and booby traps.

Look at what you have under your kitchen sink and if you know how you could create some real nice explosives.........me? I don't know anything about it.

Draino Bombs work pretty well. Take a bottle and fill it about 1/2 full of gas. Wrap some Draino inside of aluminum foil and put in in the bottle. Cap the bottle and get away. The Draino eats the aluminum foil. The chemical reaction creates an agent that reacts with the Naptha in the gasoline and causes it to expand and create a firebomb. The only drawback to this is it takes a while.

Too true. I don't like the idea of falling on my ar5e and having a chemical reaction start a Towering Inferno in my backpack either. Unless you are seriously intending to burn some s**t, you don't need anything too fancy. :thumb:

Do you know anyone who makes bio diesel? They will have gallons of the stuff. It's a byproduct.
